This will be more of a sharing rather than a proper flight review. I figure that it will be interesting to share on the Scoot Embraer planes since this is my first time flying on this aircraft type. It is also a rather new aircraft for Scoot, which only recently joined their fleet last year. This opens up new destinations that can’t be served by bigger planes for Scoot to serve with these planes, such as Koh Samui. I am glad to try this on a short hop over to Malacca, where the flight time will be a breeze. This will allow me to check out the planes and perhaps endure it if the headroom and legroom are bad. I won’t go into the details, but will just share some pictures. Elite members got it pretty good here; you can choose up to Row 5 for free. Let’s check out these cuties!

Boarding Process

My boarding is assigned for 10.35am, which seems very much like overkill, especially for a plane of this size. Changi have security at the gates, so do cater some time for it. I was pretty pleased by the assigned gate before realising that we are doing it via buses and stairs. This seems to be the SOP for these planes. With this, priority boarding is a bust. You just board the bus, and then it is a rush to the stairs too. The main concern here will be securing precious overhead compartments, since I believe that it is a smaller plane.

Scoot Embraer E190-E2

These planes are in a 2-2 configuration, which might work in your favour. Everything is in a single cabin. There is no Scoot Plus on these planes. There are a total of 112 seats onboard. The best seats are in rows 1 and 11. These will cost extra. Somehow, elite members get to choose from row 5 on board. I will just share some pictures of the cabin by itself. Service was close to nothing given our duration. I am surprised by the size of the overhead compartments on these E190. They are pretty big and allow you to stow your bags straight. Legroom is just right and can be a squeeze.

Conclusion

The flight soon went by in no time. It is way too short. These seats are fine for this duration. It can be good for flights up to 2 hours. It is sure refreshing on such a plane. I love that the views are constantly excellent on these. My eyes were glued to the window for the entire time. Being a smaller plane, it is also less chaotic during boarding and landing. I love the part where we landed in Malacca. It is important to take note that boarding and disembarking are via stairs even in Changi Airport. This can be inconvenient, especially so for passengers requiring assistance. There is no way to escape those stairs.
