From Train Station to the City

Sorrento is located on the Circumvesuviana rail line and it can be reached easily from Naples. The train station is located right in town and you can probably reach anywhere on foot.

Sorrento Cathedral

A Roman Catholic cathedral in Sorrento in the south of Italy, dedicated to Saints Philip and James. It isn’t as grand as the other ones that you have seen throughout Europe or especially Italy, however the white cathedral and its simple interior may have its charms and may not be any simple as it seems. It’s magical inside.

Piazza Tasso

Right in the heart of the city in this southern Italy place the plaza is always bustling especially when the sun is out. With many bars, cafes and restaurants having their umbrellas and tables out on the streets with customers having a glass of wine or coffee to see as the day went by. The surrounding buildings are also lined up with pastel buildings.

Marina Grande

The gorgeous and amazing port of Sorrento, it is a lovely site to see as well as something to picture down. It is the perfect place to get some sun although this is also the port and there is also some fishing activities going on as well. The iconic scene of the pastel colours buildings perched on the hill also can be found here.

Marina Piccola

The main beach area in the town. Here is the place to get some sand and sun in you. There is a large area although some of them may be reserved by the beaches umbrellas and bench. This place is also a marina.

Saint Francis’ Cloister

A monastery dates back to the 8th century, this place is absolutely amazing and gorgeous. See the building itself as well as the gardens and you will not be disappointed. Sometimes there would be musical evenings and concerts. The place is a venue for the tranquil and peacefulness right smack in the city.

One of the greatest produce of Sorrento. The limoncello is a definite must try. This is one of the largest producer of lemon alcohol in the world. All are made here right in Sorrento. A must visit to taste it from the original place of produce and also learn on the making process.

Villa Rubinacci Restaurant

Right in the centre of Sorrento and yet this restaurant is excluded from all the noise and bustling. It serves up local Italian cuisine with the fresh produce of the area, making use of the lemons, tomatoes and herbs from their own gardens. Prices are fair. It is open on 9am to 10pm from Mon to Thurs and till 11pm on Fri and Sat. On Sunday it is open from 12pm to 11pm.

Gelateria Davide

Also known as the Ice Cream of Sorrento, this place is magical for all those with a sweet tooth. Being handed over for three generation, their speciality includes the unique salty flavours gelato. Also, this stall is super near the train station making it even more perfect. It is open from 8am to 1am. Their gelato are all produce in house.
