From Airport / Train Station to the City

Naples Airport is connected to the city by Alibus. The tickets cost 3 Euro and it only has two stops, either the Stazione Centrale which is the Central station and Piazza Municipio, near the main ferry port molo Beverello. tickets can be bought fromt he driver but cost more expensive than purchasing in the airport.

The main train station is known as the Napoli Centrale – Piazza Garibaldi. The station is connected to the metro which could take you anywhere. The metro cost 1.30 Euro for a 90min ticket or 3.60 Euro for a day.

Attractions

Castel Nuovo

A medieval castle from 13th century located along the banks. It is imposing, with the five towers of the fortress towering in the Naples skyline. The fortress is open daily from 8.30am to 7pm. Inside the fortress, it also consists of a chapel and a museum.

Castel dell’Ovo

Also known as the egg castle, this special castle is surrounded by the sea which makes it so special. It is also located at the port of Naples. Offering an entire view of the gulf the palace towers is perfect. The castle is free to visit for the public and it is open from 8am to sunset from Mon to Sat and on Sun it is open from 9am to noon.

Piazza del Plebiscito

The main square in the city of Naples this is the place full of activities. The Royal Palace are located along the square too. The square is huge and grand. Many of the cities attractions are located along the square. Occasionally open air concerts will be held in the square here.

Palazzo Reale

A palace of Italian Baroque style, it is intended to be the hunting lodge of Charles VII. A popular place, expect to find crowd. The palace glimmers during sunset which is an awesome scene. The home theatre and ballroom is deserving of a look.

Museo Archeologico Nazionale

If there is a museum in the world that you have to visit to learn about the romans and the empire of theirs this is the museum to come to. It is the largest roman architectural museum in the world. It houses wall paintings and different objects removed from Pompeii, Herculaneum, and other excavation sites in the area. In addition, you can admire the Farnese collection of Roman sculptures. It is open every day from 9am to 7.30pm except Tuesday. The tickets cost 12 Euros.

Pompeii

This UNESCO World Heritage Site have been in the same shape as close to two thousand years ago when the eruption take place. It is definitely worthy of a visit and sees how the lives are like in the past. A one day ticket to the Pompeii site cost 13 Euros and there is much to see. It is open from 8.30am to 5pm in November to March. A train could be reached from Naples Central Station, taking about 50mins. You could also visit Mt Vesuvius, it can be access by bus.

Shopping

La Torretta Market

One of the best typical Italian market, this place is amazing with all the fresh produce and also other stalls that sells non food stuffs. Try out some of the Italian local fruits and homemade cheese and they will leave you jaw dropping. It is a fantastic experience. This market is only open in the morning. They will usually closed before 1pm.

Poggioreale Market

Also known as the Mercato di Poggioreale, it is a short walk from the nearest metro station. This place is the largest market in town with more than 500 stalls. It is open in the morning from Fri to Sun with stalls selling clothes, shoes and accessories at low prices. Another name for this market is also Shoe Alley.

Pizzeria Brandi

Salita Sant’Anna di Palazzo, 1/2, 80132 Napoli, Italy

Located in near proximity to the Plaza Plebiscito, this is where you can get a good, true, authentic pizza from its birthplace. The pizza margherita is the one to order if you really want to try the original one. The dough and sauce here is a little more delicate than the ones you get outside. It is open daily from 12.30pm to 3.30pm and then from 7.30pm to midnight.

Da Michele

Another great place for true and handmade pizza, however this place is located in a region that is best avoided at night, but perfectly fine in the day. This place only serves up pizza Margherita or Marinara. They believe that too much topping would destroy the taste of the pizza itself. It is open from 11am to 11pm.

Hosteria Toledo

Vico Giardinetto, 78, I-80134 Napoli, Italy

A family friendly restaurant that serves up authentic tasty food and also great limoncello. It is open every day except Tuesday from 12 to 4pm and from 7pm to 1am. A great choice for a meal. Try out the local seafood and simple cooking.

Nennella

Vico Lungo Teatro Nuovo, 103/104/105, 80134 Napoli, Italy

Known as the Naples style trattoria, it is like a dining experience. They serves up decent food at fantastic prices. There would be screaming plate smashing and other entertainment during the dinner. It is closed on Sunday. On the other day it is open from 12 to 3.15pm and 7.15 to 11.30pm.
