From Train Station to Attractions

Fussen is small enough that once you are there you probably won’t need much transportation. To get to the main sites and the castle, there is a bus service. But to get around and visit the lesser known castle and countryside a rented car will be necessary.

Neuschwanstein Castle

The mother of fairy tale castle is located only 3km away from the town of Fussen and could be reach with bus 73 or 78. Tickets can only be bought in the Ticket-Centre Hohenschwangau, Alpseestraße 12 located on the foot of the hill. This castle is also said to be the inspiration behind the Disney castle. Tickets cost 11 Euros reduced and a combined ticket with Hohenschwangau 21 Euros. Some of the great pictures can be taken while on the walk up to the castle. The castle is closed at about 3pm

Hohenschwangau Castle

The other counterpart of the famous castle in Fussen, some may rather said that this is actually more seeing then the Neuschwanstein. With Gothic styled and opulent furnished state room, the interior of this castle is definitely more desirable than the previous castle. The childhood residence of the king of Bavaria, in the world war, the castle was unaffected by bombing and been well maintained.

A small quiet restaurant in Fussen that offer medieval cooking and Bavarian specialities. It is located near to the church in the town square with a nice interior and also a great terrace if the weather is permitting. Prices are reasonable but they are only open for dinner from 5pm to 9pm.
