Welcome to another trip series! I am going to run this concurrently with The Corona Way that has been ongoing for quite some time. I have a huge backlog for that series and am only halfway thru. I do hope to be able to pick up the slack when I have more time in Bali. Do bear with me on that! Seeing The World In Steps is taking a trip to Bali! It is going to be an Eat Pray Love kind of trip, a one way soul searching adventure. I do not have any concrete plans and am only limited by my visa. I am hoping to have a reboot, a restart of my life and clarify where I stand and what path I wish to undertake going forward. To kick start this trip series, I will be sharing about my upcoming trip and perhaps some of the stuff that I seek to achieve while in Bali. I will include the places I will be visiting, flights, hotels and lounges! With this, let me introduce you to my latest Trip Series, One Way Trip! To anyone that is reading this, do drop me a holler if you are in Bali for the next month or so as well. I am always up for a Bintang!

Bali, Gili Islands & Lombok

This will be the third time that I am in Bali and the first time since COVID-19. I am certainly electrified to be back once again! Seeing The World In Steps has always loved Bali. I have seen most of the sights in the city and this time around it will be more of a Bintang and beach club kinda itinerary! There will, without doubt, be plenty of food and massages. Some of the major places that I hope to accomplish when I am there will be Nusa Penida, Lombok as well as Gili Islands. They have long been on my bucketlist since I have watched the Korean variety show, Youn’s Kitchen! They will also represent new cities for Seeing The World In Steps! My lifelong targets!

Flights

While travelling has eased up once again and there is more or less no difference from pre-pandemic times. It certainly still isn’t the time for crazy routing! I just book redemption tickets on Singapore Airlines for this trip. Not the best value since I will usually tag on my short-haul flights to my long haul ticket but this trip came about pretty last minute. Redemptions tickets are snapped up at lightning speed after the recent government relaxation in Singapore. Even regional business class flights to places like Bali and Bangkok were in hot demand after each news! I will be departing on Singapore Airlines SQ944 in Business Class. Bumped at not redeeming when there was a Spontaneous Escape Sale, I paid 19,000 Miles + 52.30 SGD in taxes. I value these miles at 292 SGD. I have flown the exact route back in 2019 and it will be interesting to see what SQ Regional Business Class will be like post COVID.

For my return flight, it will be a similar redemption but I will be routing that to another county to kick start my other trip series! So do stay tuned for that.

Hotels

There are no concrete plans with regard to my stay in Bali. Although I will definitely use up my Conrad Bali and Westin Resort & Spa Ubud voucher that I bought during the pandemic before they expire. I am also thinking about trying a couple of aspiring properties on my bucketlist. Currently, I am seeing really good rates when booking thru Virtuoso! Or I might just be held up at the all-time cost-friendly Hilton Garden Inn Bali Ngurah Rai Airport! This will be good to rack up some precious nights to extend my Diamond status beyond Mar 2024. I will also be using the Citi Prestige 4th night free benefits sometimes to help bring down the cost. I will be sharing my experiences and reviewing all the unique hotels that I will be staying at during this trip! I will include the cost of the properties in each of the individual reviews.

Lounges

This time around I will be taking the opportunity to check out the Marhaba Lounge to see what it is like in the COVID Era after hearing that it recently reopen. I will also check out the SATS Premier Lounge in Singapore since I didn’t have a chance to do so during my previous trip. Time to go early to the airport! I have heard about the crowd in the airport and the lounges in Singapore which is a positive sign that we are back to almost normal!
