I am back with another review of The Private Room! This is SQ’s best lounge among the network and the cream of the crop! They have recently undergone a change of management for the lounge, and it has also been years since I last covered this place. I got the chance to visit the facility back late last year when I was flying to Dubai. It seems like the perfect opportunity to check if there are any changes in the soft product. I also reviewed the newest First Class Lounge in T2 recently. SQ lounges are now managed by a brand-new management company, Accor. I am hyped up for this and hope to see the same hospitality level as the Qantas First Lounge, which is under their management as well! You can also find my review of the Terminal 3 First Class SKL here, and my previous The Private Room review here and here. I will just share some updated pictures of the place and mainly share about the soft product. Do check out my compilation of SKL around the world, too.

Access Requirements

There are two main tiers of lounges in Singapore. The KrisFlyer Gold Lounge is for KrisFlyer Gold and Star Alliance Gold members flying in Economy Class. Premium passengers as well as PPS Club members are invited to the SilverKris Lounge instead. You will then be able to access either the Business Class Lounge, First Class Lounge or The Private Room. PPS Solitaire members are invited to the First Class lounge. The Private Room is reserved exclusively for passengers flying in First Class / Suites on Singapore Airlines metal only. Star Alliance First Class passengers are ushered to the First Class lounge instead. There is a no-guest policy here. Arriving passengers from Singapore Airlines First Class or Suites passengers can also access the facility.

Arrival & Location

In the past, it was known as a lounge within a lounge and a lounge. Just like a Russian Doll, you need to get through 3 different gantries to enter the lounge. Safe to say, it is as secure as a maximum security prison. Sneaking in is close to impossible! This is no longer the case as they now share the same oval entrance of the SilverKris Lounge, where you then branch out into the various lounges. This will depend on your entitlement.

Upon exiting the escalator, I was ushered in after presenting my boarding pass and the lounge invite. You do not have to give the lounge invites to the staff if you would like to keep them as a memento. I was then asked if I would like to have a seat in the lounge or have breakfast. I was handed over to the restaurant staff after choosing to have breakfast first. Excellent engagement. Very polished. Do ask to keep the Golden Ticket lounge pass as a memento.

Food and Drinks

I visited during dinner service, and you can find the latest menu of The Private Room over here. This is definitely the highlight and what sets it apart from the usual first-class lounge. There is an extensive wine list too, with multiple labels of Champagne. The house pour over here is the Taittinger, Comtes de Champagne, Blanc de Blancs.

Besides this, you will also be able to order cocktails from the first-class lounge. I have included a picture of the menu here.

They will be brought over by the staff. This is definitely an improvement over the old one. I would love to see more creative creations from new hospitality management. Over the course of my stay at the T2 First Class Lounge, I tried the Bee’s Knees and Hibiscus Tea Sour. Both of them were excellent! I am looking forward to trying more over the course of my visit.

Service seems to be a step above my experience. The hospitality level is polished with more engagement. It felt more reciprocal and two-way as compared to previously. The staff are very genuine and take the effort to make small talk and provide recommendations. I did not manage to order too many items, as we are pretty stuffed during our visit. Here are some of the items that we tried.

Conclusion

The pinnacle of Singapore Airlines lounge network. The private room is definitely the cream of the crop. It comes with an equally exclusive entrance requirement. This is the best Singapore Airlines has to offer to its most valuable customers. It is always worth a visit, and you should definitely come early. Travellers often put this and the Qantas First Class Lounge together for a comparison. These are my thoughts about it. You get more quality offerings over here in the private room, but the execution and friendliness are better over at Qantas. The change to Accor management has bridged the differences. I am excited for SQ’s new and upcoming products this year and how the lounge products will be over in Terminal 5 in due time.
