There are a couple of lounges in Rome. I was flying out of Rome after wrapping up our time in Italy. We will be flying to Paris for the next part of our European adventures. We were here pretty early, and I was expecting the lounge to be really crowded since they also have a booking system. Like the one in London. I kind of feel this might be better after remembering it from my time in Milan. They might be from the same group. We got to the airport really early, given our flight departure and would be keen to check out the lounge. We also need to grab some breakfast. Let’s check out the Prima Vista.

Access Requirements

The Prima Vista Lounge is open from 5.15am to 9.45pm daily. You can access this lounge through a lounge program membership, such as Priority Pass. I have an unlimited Priority Pass through my UOB Reserve Card or my Citi Prestige Credit Card, which provides me with 12 yearly visits. I access the lounge primarily using these two cards. A standard entrance will cost 35USD. Typical guest entitlements follow. You can also pre-book the lounge via the PP app, although at an additional cost. 

Arrival & Location

The lounge is available in the Schengen area and the A gates area. Rome airport is a lot nicer than expected. There are clear signs to the lounge, and you can also find it next to the Plaza Premium First facility! I am still cherishing my first chance to visit a PP First facility. The lounge looks pleasant enough. We were warmly welcomed by the staff after scanning our boarding pass. We got here in the morning at around 7.30am. We caught a lovely sunrise just as we entered.

Prima Vista Lounge 

This lounge is a nice one. Let me just briefly cover it. Right after entering, you can find an overflow seating area. That’s also an area that is cordoned off, which I will presume is for some airline customers. The lounge comes with awesome views of the tarmac area, and we were treated to a very gorgeous sunrise just as we arrived. The lounge spaces are mainly spread out into two different parts. On both sides, you have numerous seating and lounge couches. Power outlets and Wi-Fi are available as well.

To the right, you have multiple dining tables and high-top seating. The centrepiece here is the bar. I will share more about this later on. There are also some seats by the side of the bar. 

The lounge comes with its own toilets, which is something that I appreciated. There are no showers here. The toilets are well-maintained and clean. 

Food and Drinks

How awesome is this! This is exactly what I expected in Italy. A full bar with freshly brewed barista coffee. You even have multiple brands of still and sparkling bottled water to choose from! Why can’t we have this in Singapore? I can’t comment on anything alcoholic since it is so early in the morning. I did not see anything displayed either. It might be brought out later on. You also find some fresh juices.

I enjoyed a cappuccino, which was chef kiss! 

Food-wise, it is a little lacking compared to the drink options. I visited during breakfast service. You can find some cereals, hams, yogurts, mushrooms, and scrambled eggs.  It does not look too interesting at all, but it is worth grabbing a bite if you want some grub. Pretty handy given how expensive things are over here at the airport. 

Conclusion

I still rank this pretty high in the contract lounge category. I enjoyed it. The space was comfortable, and the drinks were good. These are more or less what I need from a contract lounge. The food was alright but enough to fuel you if needed and to avoid pricey airport prices. Besides this, there are also a couple of other contract lounges out there that you can check out. The Plaza Premium First is probably the best over here. I still will have no qualms coming back here for another stay if I am flying out of Rome.
