I have already shared this property extensively the previous time I stayed here. I really enjoyed it the previous time around, and in my opinion, it is one of the better ones in Europe. The property has recently been renovated, and the rooms are sparkling new. You can find my older review here. Previously, I was in their Junior Suite, which is nice but dated. Now it should be perfect. It is my go-to place when back in Milan. This time around, I will be back for a couple of nights and am excited to check it out again. The location is also very central and right close to the Centrale FS. You can also enjoy a lovely stroll into the city centre. Hilton is slowly improving its footprint in Milan, but it is still very bare as of now. I am excited to check out the upcoming Canopy, which should be opening very soon. I also have pretty fond memories of the breakfast. I remember them serving up extremely good coffee and freshly squeezed OJ, which is quintessential over here in this part of the world. It is going to be perfect for my stay over the festive period and also after counting down on NYE. Great for getting back on foot late in the night. I stayed here on separate occasions and got the same room. I will be combining both of my experiences into a single post.

Booking Process & Pre Arrival

I have two separate stays here at the Hilton Milan. We will stay here for a night, then return for 3 more nights after Venice. I booked the base-level deluxe room. I reach out to the hotel a couple of days ahead to get my preference in and also some updated information about the property. They have recently made some changes to the rooms and categories after the renovation. A couple of days out, I can see from the app that I have been upgraded to an Executive Deluxe room, which is as good as it gets. It is recently renovated, too. With the stay over the festive period, this is already a very generous upgrade. To recap, Hilton Milan now features 320 guest rooms and suites across 9 categories. You can find the breakdown below.

Checking In

I landed in Linate Airport at around 1am, and then it was a breeze to clear immigration, which is nice at a smaller airport. You could take the bus or get a taxi. We got one after waiting for a taxi, which cost around 25 Euros or so. It took around 20 minutes for the drive. I feel that it is worth the premium since the bus already costs 7 euros each.

Upon arrival, it was still rather quiet since it was Christmas. There was no bellboy to greet us, and we had to flag someone down to help us with our bags. The hotel feels different from the last time I was here. It looks so much fresher and modern. I love this look. We were assisted by a friendly guy who warmly welcomed us and thanked me for my loyalty. We were provided with the latest info regarding the lounge and the breakfast restaurant. We were confirmed to be in their newly renovated Executive Deluxe Room.

Executive Deluxe Room

According to the staff, we got a really nice room, and this particular one was just 3 months old at the point of our stay. It is just a very short walk away from the elevators on the 7th floor. This is one of the newer ones. It looks so different from the junior suite that I last stayed in a couple of years ago. I love the refreshing new look. Upon entering, the entrance sort of lets you out in the middle of the room with a walkway area to the right. This is a nice, spacious area for you to place your baggage and et cetera. This also leads to the open concept wardrobe area. It comes with a portable luggage stand and everything that you require for the stay, such as hangers, ironing kits, laundry bags, bathrobes, slippers and a safe. There is also a fixed luggage area that could fit a cabin-sized suitcase well.

This deluxe executive room felt more like a junior suite instead. There is a separate sitting area on the other side of the entrance. There is also a bathroom and a full-length mirror on the wall. The bathroom is of a good size, nicely decorated and furnished with a single sink. There is plenty of counter space. Amenities are limited to large pump-size bottles of Crabtree and Evelyn. The bathroom comes with a standing shower. There is both a handheld shower head and a rain shower. The water pressure and temperature control are excellent. The half glass does mean that water does splatter all around the area after a shower.

Moving back to the main space of the room, which is in a rectangular configuration and layout. The front part of the sitting and living space. There is a couch here that could fit 2 to 3 people comfortably. This could also be a daybed for the little ones. It surrounds a coffee table. Later on during the day, the staff brought over something special for Christmas, including a fruit platter, a scented candle and a special skincare kit in a very nice pouch. This came alongside a personalised note. I felt so welcoming and honoured by what they did for Christmas.

Mounted on the wall is a large, high-quality smart screen television. This is both great when viewed from the bed, as well as from the sitting area. It comes with a good number of both local and international cable TV channels. I did wish that they could support casting capabilities.

On the other side of the room, you can find a mini bar area. It is well stocked and super gorgeous. The area comes with both a kettle and a proper coffee machine for espresso. I am glad that this is something they did not overlook, after all, it is Italy. Complimentary bottled water is provided, and these are replenished during daily housekeeping.

The room also comes with a little outdoor terrace or balcony area, if you can call it that. It is, of course, something nice to have.

The other half of the room comes fitted with a plush king-size bed. It is definitely the centrepiece. Everything is super comfortable and plush. It is high quality, and the bedding is so comfy. I love that the bedding is on the firmer size, which provides great back support. The pillows were a little mushy. This is something they could certainly improve on. Flanking both sides of the beds are nightstands with controls for the lighting and power outlets. This makes it very convenient for your stay.

Conclusion

I will not share about the other aspects of my stay since they were all temporary facilities. It will not be relevant right now. By now, the restaurant and executive lounge should be open. This is really one of my favourite properties in Italy and Europe. I love breakfast with the fresh OJ and coffee. The hardware is now even better after the renovation. The rooms look so fresh and gorgeous. While the hotel is slightly out of the city centre, it is still very walkable, and it is near the central station. Everything is very easy when you are here. This Executive Deluxe was a treat. I would love to be back at this property once again after it has been fully renovated, and check out the proper lounge and breakfast space that will be pretty nice. I am, though, excited to try the new Canopy Milan next.
