It’s been quite some time since I stayed at the Doubletree JB. I have been here before a couple of times and stayed in various room types. You can check out my past review of their One Bedroom Suite, Executive Room and Deluxe Room here. I have heard that their management has changed recently, and they have made some slight improvements to their soft products. I also stayed in a different room type this time around and decided to briefly share on this. This time around, I will be in their Executive Suite. I will not be sharing about the facilities this time around. I am glad to be back.
Booking Process & Pre Arrival
We got an Executive Suite and a One Bedroom Suite here for our stay. There are some recent changes to the room categorisation over here. Not all of the suites come with lounge access, as is the norm for Hilton. You do need to book a specific room type for access if you do not have Diamond status or above. There are no further upgrades since we were staying over the weekend, and we were already in the 2 highest categories.
Checking In
We got here in the late morning at around 11am. It was fairly quiet, and we were immediately helped to. Warm cookies were offered, and then we were provided with all the information for our stay, as well as information for the lounge. Executive guests now enjoy 3 pieces of pressing during their stay. One of our suites is ready, and housekeeping is doing the finishing touches on the other. We waited for the other to arrive for a short while, having drinks in the lounge.
Executive Suite
This is a new category that I have not stayed in prior. The Executive Suite measures a spacious 64 Sqm. It also comes with a kitchen, which might be handy for your stay. I got assigned a suite located on the 27th floor. This is one of the highest floors in the hotel. It was suite 2712 to be exact. This is something like a corner suite. Right upon entering, you have a short entryway before reaching the main living room space, which is more or less triangular in shape.
Immediately to the left, you have a dining table cum working desk. This area comes with sitting for two with power outlets and all sorts of plugs located within reach.
Along the wall, you can find a wet bar with full sets of utensils, plates and glassware. It also comes with a full-size fridge and microwave. This will be handy if you want to cook some simple, hot meals. The fridge is left empty for your use as well. There is also a kettle and a Nespresso coffee machine. Packaged tea and capsules are also available. Complimentary bottles of drinking water are available too. These are replenished during daily housekeeping and turndown service.
Next to it is the smart screen television, which comes with a good number of both local and International channels from both Singapore and Malaysia. It is quite a good size for the suite.
The living space comes with a sofa set with a coffee table in the middle. This is ample space for four pax and will be great for gatherings and groups. It comes with a nice unblocked view over the surrounding area. There is nothing too inspiring about the JB skyline. The curtains and sheers over here are manually controlled.
As you head in, you branch out into the bathroom and bedroom area. There are separate rooms with lockable doors. The bathroom is a good size with a single sink and plenty of counter space. In hindsight, they could have made double sinks. The bathroom comes with a standing shower with a fully enclosed glass screen. There is both a handheld shower head and a rainshower. The water pressure and temperature control are pretty good. There is no bathtub in this suite.
The bathroom is also equipped with a washing machine.
The bathroom is linked to the wardrobe area. It is an open concept. Everything is provided here, from an ironing kit to laundry bags and plenty of hangers. There is also some luggage space. The bathroom can be accessed from the bedroom as well.
The bedroom comes with a plush king-size bed in the middle. I am a fan of the mattress, which is on the firmer side. The pillows were great as well. They even provide a pillow menu for you to customise your sleeping experience. This is worthy of a mention for a DT. Flanking both sides of the bed are nightstands with outlets and controls for the lighting.
There is another sitting area in the room. You can also find another working desk here, with a chair. The TV is also mounted on the wall here. It is even bigger than the one in the living room.
Conclusion
It’s nice to see that there are certain elevations and slight changes here and there. I do hear that upgrades are easier and nicer, especially if you stay on weekdays and low-peak periods. For this stay, there wasn’t much of an upgrade to give, given that I am already booked into the highest suite level. The next one above will be the presidential suite, and I doubt that in a normal scenario, they will be doing that for Diamond members. It is a very nice property, especially for Hilton members if you are doing the hop over to JB. It is slightly on the dated side.
