I have already shared this property extensively the previous time I stayed. It was about two years ago. I had an amazing time over here, and it is one of the best properties in town. It is surprising to see how London doesn’t have more premium properties from Hilton. I could do with another Conrad and WA. This time around, I will be back for another stay and will be in their Deluxe Room. I was supposed to stay at the Canopy, but I still went back to the Conrad. The location is unbeatable. I will just share in the room. For a more extensive sharing, do check my previous review here. This time around, there wasn’t any upgrade, which is expected since we stayed over Christmas.

Booking Process & Pre Arrival

We will be staying here for 2 nights, and I booked the Deluxe Room, which is what we got. To recap, the Conrad London St James comes with 256 guest rooms and suites spread across 11 categories. I believe that there are only 15 suites available here. It is very nice for them to even offer me a Junior Suite. Expectations for a suite upgrade should not be high. You can check out the breakdown below.

Checking In

I did not get to the hotel too early. We got an Uber from the InterContinental, and it was a short ride of about 10 minutes. It could have been walkable but definitely not with those bags. Upon arrival, the bell boy came over to help us with our bags and we were immediately helped to at the check in area by a polished associate. I did wish that it were a sit-down process. It was super polished here with them pouring you some bubbles while they check in. Sadly, no suite upgrade given the busy festive period. We were quickly provided with all the information, and then the associate was able to usher us to our room. It is always so polished here.

Deluxe Room

This is a different room type from the one I stayed in here two years ago. The deluxe room is a category above the lead-in room. We were assigned one on the third floor. It is just a short walk away from the elevators. The room measures 28 Sqm. Right upon entering, you have the bathroom straight ahead of you. To the left, they have nicely carved out a little sitting area, which will come in handy for putting on your footwear. I love the design. They also have some hooks here by the wall for your outerwear, which will be handy, especially during this time of year.

The bathroom comes with a single sink with plenty of counter space. As per usual, the amenities over here at Conrad are Byredo Mojave Ghost in large pump size bottles. A full set of amenities is provided, and they’re pretty generous with it. You can find everything that you might require for your stay over here.

The bathroom comes with a separate bathtub as well as a standing shower. The standing shower is very spacious; it comes with both a handheld shower head and a rainshower. The temperature control and water pressure are extremely good.

Moving back to the room along the entrance, you can find a spacious wardrobe with everything that you might require for your stay. There is a portable luggage right here, plenty of hangers, a safe, bathrobes, bath slippers and laundry bags.

The minibar area is found next to the wardrobe. The mini bar area is well stocked with plenty of glassware, a kettle, a Nespresso coffee machine, alongside capsules and packaged tea. There are also snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in the fridge.

Along the wall next to it is a glass working desk. It comes with a good amount of space with all of the plugs, ports and outlets. The Wi-Fi works well in the room. The connection is very stable and strong. The chair offers decent back support for a short period of working.

You can find a large, high-quality smart screen television mounted on the wall. It comes with a good number of both local and international cable TV channels. There are also smart applications, and you can also cast to the television itself. In the corner, you can find another chair and a coffee table. It offers an additional seating area. Left on the coffee table is a welcome amenity consisting of a cake and a personalised note. There are also two bottles of water. There isn’t much of a view from the room, given how low we are. We are also facing the inner courtyard. You can open up the window or get some fresh air.

The centrepiece of the room is definitely the plush king-size bed. It is of superb quality. I love that the bed is on the higher side, and the sheets were so smooth. This is one of the most comfortable beds that I have lain on. Flanking both sides of the bed are nightstands with controls for the lighting and sockets. Turndown service is automatically offered in the evening with the room refreshed and cleaned. This is one of my favourite ever. They will leave sweet treats by the side and turn on some music. It just feels so good coming back in the late evening, hearing soothing music with the bed prep for resting. This is something that I really wish more luxury hotels could adopt.

Conclusion

This is still hands down the best Hilton property over here in London. This is such a premium market, and I am unsure where there is not a WA or another Conrad here. It could definitely use an LXR and WA over here. There are plenty of options over here in London, but the Conrad remains one of the best. There are also some other new Hilton properties in town that are recent additions. I am hoping to check out a couple of other properties in the city on my next visit. I love the hardware here. I will always recommend this place. The property might be very handy on a luxury agent rate at times, too. The deluxe room is very nice too. Nothing much has really changed for the rest of the property, including the lounge and breakfast.
