It is quite a surprise that I did not do a lot of 777 business class reviews on Singapore Airlines. I have always preferred the 350 LH variant for SQ business class if given a choice. It is much more exclusive and with the lack of a first-class cabin, you are prioritised. Of course, when compared with the 350 MH variant, it is a different story since the 777 will offer you the true business class seats which is the long haul variant. SQ 11/12 is a unique one for Japan flights since it is the only LH product except the 380s. The 777 has been used since SQ 11/12 and continues to LAX. You can find my previous SQ 777 Business Class review here. Check out my collection of SQ premium class reviews here. I have also flown this route a couple of times including in First Class. For this ticket, I paid 52,000 KrisFlyer Miles and 28.66 SGD in taxes. I also included a sector from DPS – SIN.

Checking In
I have already checked in earlier in Bali but did so again at Changi Airport since I have additional bags to drop off. It’s a wet and chilly morning in Singapore. I got to the airport at around 6.10am for the 9am flight. I wanted to cater some time to spend in the lounge. It was a short and easy ride from my place and we were soon sorted out at the business class counters. There was a little queue in the morning peak but we were soon helped. SQ had more than 6 counters open and it was very fuss-free. I hate the annoying CISCO who loves to do weird drawings on my boarding pass. Can’t they check without a pen? I spent the rest of my time in the SilverKris Lounge.
Boarding Process
I was assigned gate A11 for departure which was a little walk away from the lounge on the same side. That makes things pretty easy and simple. Boarding is scheduled for 8.50am. There was such a long queue for security. This is commonly an issue over here at Changi. I can’t comprehend why SQ doesn’t arrange to have priority lines like other airlines. There was a slight delay and boarding only started at 9.10am. It is very crowded and chaotic with many passengers requiring assistance. A common sight for US flights tbh. There are at least 8 groups. First-class passengers were then invited before PPS club and business class passengers.
I was welcomed onboard by the lovely crew and then ushered over to my seat. I bumped into a familiar face and was greeted by Sachiyo who similarly worked on my last SQ12. What a delightful surprise. It is always nice to fly with the same crew again. Ryo then took over and she was an absolutely gem. The same goes for Kara who was working my aisle. My jacket was hung and then they also came by to confirm my meal order while on the ground.
I managed to snag one of those new Le Labo business-class amenity kits. This looks so lovely and I can’t wait to try out the products. I am hoping that they will provide Le Labo amenities in the toilets and bathroom too. Welcome drinks were offered and we pushed back showerly after 9.34am. We had a rather long taxi on the ground and only took off at 10am. It is awesome to see that the sun is back out in Singapore just as I was taking off.
Singapore Airlines 777 Business Class
I shall not dwell too much on the hardware and the seats since I have reviewed this product countless times. You can find some of my recent reviews of this cabin here. The hardware is also very similar to the one onboard the A350. I will just include some pictures of my seats here. The bulkhead seats are awesome. On this flight, I will be in 11K. It is one of the best seats onboard. I love them especially when you are in bed mode. The space is outstanding. I will include some pictures of my seats here.
Meal Service
After levelling off, the crew came by to offer after-take-off drinks. It’s a full service flight on this route with a proper lunch meal. You can find the menu for the flight here. Kara came by to offer me some Sake which I love it. This is my go to drinks onboard Japanese flights. I appreciate the seat side pours. This should be how service is done in premium cabins. Soon the crew also came by with the satay cart. I miss this so much. It is such a vibe to have satays while flying in the air.
Everything is done course by course which is amazing. The proper meal service started around 1.5 hours after take off with proper white table cloth. I went for the international meal and got the Marinated Prawn Salad with Cucumber. The prawns were huge and fresh. The crew served the dressing seat side. Ryo was lovely.
For my mains, I pre-ordered from the Book The Cook selection and went for the Suzuki Teriyaki. This is a dish that I have heard plenty about and always wanted to try. It certainly didn’t disappoint. I will highly recommend this if you want a fish dish. The only complaint is that the portion is on the smaller side. I enjoyed everything from the boiled vegetables to the shimeji mushroom-flavoured rice. One of the best I had onboard Singapore Airlines.
For desserts, I opted for a cheese plate since I was craving some brie. I paired this with the 2018 Chateau Loudenne, Medoc, France red wine.
I also got some ice cream which is excellent! There is always more space for desserts. Service is top notch on this flight by Ryo. I appreciated her pouring the wine’s seat side and offering a nice description of the wines and all.
Conclusion
The whole meal ended with about 3 more hours to go. They could certainly have shortened the meal a little by cutting down the timing between canapes and appetizers. I took a little nap and slept till we were preparing to land. Kara woke me up just as they were preparing the cabin for landing. This is one flight that I wish it was slightly longer. Somehow I always get good SQ crews on short flights and bad ones on long-haul flights. The highlight of this flight would be meeting Sachiyo. I adore the long-haul seats. I can’t see why people will like the regional business class. SQ11/12 is the way to go for Japan flights. Getting the bulkhead seats makes it even more amazing. Service is superior and above average on this flight. The meals are top-notch. Always a great way to fly!
