One of the recent additions to the property footprint over here in Tokyo. This is another option for Hilton elites to consider when in Tokyo. It offers much more affordable accommodations than Conrad and Hilton. This is also the first DoubleTree hotel in Tokyo and Kanto area. It was open back in December 2024. I decided to check it out to try a new property. It is also way lighter on the wallet. Prices are still way too ridiculous in Tokyo especially given the peak is coming. This spot can be a good deal with points and even more so with 5 nights. At the time of my stay, the hotel is only 3 months old, with everything new and fresh. The rooms, and the public areas, are all in tip-top condition. The hotel is a little slightly out of the city centre but better than staying in Hilton Tokyo Bay or Hilton Yokohama. With how efficient the trains are here, as long as you are near a train station, you will be pretty good. There are also tons of convenience stores nearby with a 7-Eleven right in the lobby. You are then one minute away from both train stations.
Booking Process & Pre Arrival
I booked the high-floor queen guest room. This is technically the second level, one above the base-level room. I used points for the first two nights at 40,000 points a night and then cash for the last night. It was almost on par but it at least lightened the load given how expensive rates are over here in Tokyo. I reached out to get some information from the hotel staff to get some information and put in some room requests a couple of days out from the stay. Surprisingly I did not get any automated upgrade ahead of my stay even when the online check-in was open. This is quite surprising as higher rooms are available. I usually get at least one tier upgrade. All the rooms here come with a tub as usual over here in Japan. A lot of the categories here are segregated by being on a high floor or not. Doubletree by Hilton Tokyo Ariake comes with 363 guest rooms spread across 11 categories. You can check out the breakdown below.

Checking In
I landed in NRT in the early evening and then took the Skyliner. We had a brief stop at Shimbashi station to grab dinner nearby before heading to the hotel using the Rinkai line. It is quite a hassle coming from Narita. To and from the hotel into town and Tokyo station is easy with a direct line to Shibuya. On second thoughts, I might think that the limo bus would be better. By the time I got here, it was already 10pm. I love the cosy and warm vibes of the lobby area which is on the second floor.
Checking in was a breeze and I was helped by a friendly associate who reconfirmed everything about my stay. I can stay in the same room throughout both bookings. Despite the late hour, it is still very busy here and check-in was quite packed. All the information was provided. I was also told that I could have breakfast at the alternative location since it is forecasted to be high occupancy. This is only for gold and diamond members.
By the side of the lobby, u can find some seatings and also a chargeable Starbucks bar where you can make your drinks. Do note that the 7-Eleven is right below the lobby on the ground floor.
Queen Guest Room High Floor
I was assigned a room on the 15th floor. This is one of the higher floors in the hotel. I usually won’t book this room category which is a level above the base just for being on a higher floor. It is worth noting that points redemption will get you into this category. I was assigned room 511 to be exact. It is almost right opposite the elevators. The common corridors are nice. Rooms here are definitely on the smaller side but fairly standard by Japanese standards. This room measures a cosy 22 Sqm. I would recommend getting a twin room for that extra 7 Sqm which can be useful.
It is already a lot more spacious than your usual Japanese business hotels. This is a room that is only good for solo travellers or at best couples. Upon entering the room, you can find a long entranceway with the bathroom located to the left. It is really small and just enough space for you to get in. The bathroom itself is a good size and even comes with a typical Japanese bidet toilet. I love the spare counter space and cosmetic mirror and they also had a very good Japanese brand hairdryer left here.
All sorts of amenities are provided and included. Towels are also clean flush and comfortable. You can then find the showering space fairly standard but spacious enough and definitely very spacious in Japanese standards. Despite the space, they can still fit in a mini tub as well as a standing shower. There is both a handheld shower head and a rainforest one. The water pressure and temperature control is excellent. This is one of the basic amenities that so many hotels get it wrongly.
Moving back to the main space of the room, along the entrance there is a full-length mirror with some hooks on the wall which will be handy for your outerwear. This also increases the storage space. The room only comes with a mini wardrobe and a couple of hangers. There is even an ironing kit, bath slippers and a safe. I love that it is installed with these foldable doors that allow you to save space.
The room is in a rectangular configuration. It is cosy! I have to say that it is quite nicely set up. Along the wall, there is a small TV platform and space space. The TV can be pivoted to the side to be viewed from the bed. It is a good size for this room and comes with a nice number of both local and international cable TV channels. It is not too shabby and in fact pretty rather high quality.
The minibar corner is also located to the side here. Complimentary drinking water is provided. Additional ones can be requested and they also refill them during daily housekeeping. There is also a kettle here. Packaged tea and coffee are provided too.
The bulk of the space is taken up by the queen size bed which is flushed to the side of the wall. I love the design and the space-saving quirks like the platform above for small items and power outlets. Controls for the lightings and night lights are conveniently placed too. The bed was comfy and the sheets were high quality. I would also like to point out how amazing and efficient the air-conditioning was. It was super efficient and quiet.
Right in front of the bed is the working desk and a side small sofa. It even comes with a proper ergonomics office chair which provides excellent support if you need to get some work done. It comes with a rather lovely view of the surroundings and the freeway nearby too. Power outlets are nearby and the wifi works well too.
In the cabinet below, you have a mini fridge that is left empty for your use.
Fitness Centre
The fitness centre is located on the second floor right opposite the lobby area. It is outside of the main building. The place is well-maintained, clean and spacious. It comes with a couple of lifting equipment, weights and treadmills. Power and water area also provided. The place comes with a nice view of the surrounding area. The facility is open 24 hours and you can access it with your key cards anytime during your stay.
Laundry Room
The laundry room is open 24 hours and is located on the 3rd floor. They accept payment via coins and you can find an exchange machine here too. You can find the prices over here. This will be handy for long-term stays or families who need to get laundry done. There are a total of 6 machines.
Evening Cocktails
This is a nice touch from the hotel. They do not have an executive lounge here but they do offer a cocktail hour for diamond members. This is located at the Brew33 bar from 5pm to 6pm. I did not check it out since the timing is awkward and I will be out in the city every day. It is a nice touch but I doubt that any drinks will be worth the effort coming back from the city to enjoy for an hour. I appreciate the gesture. Perhaps some drinks coupons will be better.
Breakfast at Brew33 Bar
On days when occupancy is forecasted to be on the higher side, the hotel will open up the bar on the second floor to serve breakfast as well. This is exclusive for the use of Gold and Diamond members. Breakfast is offered from 6.30pm to 10.30pm. Surprisingly, the selection here is much weaker as compared to the main restaurant as it does not have an egg station. They should have just switched it around. You can find some pictures of the place here. There are only a couple of hot dishes.
I preferred having breakfast at SAUS instead.
Breakfast at SAUS
Breakfast is served in the main restaurant on the first floor. SAUS offers it from 6.30am to 10.30am daily. This is the usual breakfast spot. Breakfast is included for elite members if not part of your rate. It cost 3800 yen if paid for. The restaurant can fit 98 seats. It can get really busy during periods of high occupancy. I was immediately welcomed in and offered a tag to place on the table. They do not do table assignments but guests can choose any seats they want. The restaurant feels very welcoming with plenty of natural light.
There is a good selection of items. It exceeds my expectations. There is a noodle station, egg station, grilled fish, Japanese food and western items. The standard western items are available here too such as bacon, sausages, tomatoes, salads and hashbrowns. There are also some pastries, juices, tea and coffees. There are some slight changes from day to day.
Conclusion
Besides the rough arrival from Narita, everything else was fine for this stay. The space is not generous but we made it work. You certainly get what you paid for. It is a refreshing spot considering how expensive other Hilton properties can be in Tokyo. It is easy enough to travel to and from Tokyo Station and Shibuya. You can make it work for the cost saving. The convenience store makes it very easy. I also got nothing but good things to share about the staff. I had a little issue with the wifi and they even came up to my room to assist. With how cosy the rooms here, I will highly recommend opting for a twin bed configuration just to feel a little more spacious. They also seem very apologetic not to have any upgrade available for my stay. The breakfast was solid. I have always appreciated staying at a new property and this is no different. It might be a rebrand but they have certainly done up huge renovations. Everything feels brand-new and clean. I also appreciate them going the extra mile by offering a cocktail hour for Diamond members.
