After spending the first night over at the Hilton Garden Inn I switch over to the Hilton for the next two nights. This is the main and the best Hilton hotel over here in Frankfurt City. The location is very good since you are within minutes of the city centre. Everything is within walking distance. This is the main reason why I chose the hotel since traffic and public transport going to be bad after all the festivities. The hotel also has good public transport links nearby. I have always heard praises for this and the Hilton Frankfurt airport. It also comes with an executive lounge which will be handy over New Year’s Day. Time for some pre-drinking before all the celebrations. This is my choice of abode for the last day of 2023! I would also head for the countdown later on. Heh, I will get an extra 8 hours in 2023!
Booking Process & Pre Arrival
I booked directly with Hilton for the stay and got the base-level Guest rooms. I was really lucky to still get a room during this period. I was staying right over New Year’s. This is a super peak period. The hotel offered me all the information and they also did their best to arrange for an upgrade but they can’t promise anything given the holidays. They were also very nice to share some additional tips with me on the fireworks and spots to catch them while in town. The hotel has a rather low number of suites and as such it is not easy to get a Diamond Suite upgrade here. Hilton Frankfurt City Centre comes with 342 guest rooms and suites spread across 9 categories. You can check out the breakdown below.

Checking In
I came over from the HGI and took an Uber. It was a quick 5-minute drive and there was virtually no traffic at all given the holidays. It was cold and wet 31 Dec! I got to the hotel at around 12.15pm. I love the decor and open-concept design with plenty of glass. This gives it plenty of natural light when the weather is good. There are some seatings by the side of the spacious lobby.
It took quite some time to check-in. There was quite a crowd at the reception and only 2 counters were open. After a short wait, I was helped by a warm lady who proceeded to assist me and thank me for being a diamond member. My room isn’t ready at this hour and will be done in about an hour or so. She provided me with all the information for the stay including the special breakfast hour for New Year’s Day! I was also informed that I got a one-tier upgrade to a deluxe room. This is as good as it gets. The deluxe room goes for around 250 Euros a night. The bar and restaurant are at the side.
I came back in the evening to collect the keys and my bags were automatically sent up to the room.
Twin Deluxe Room
I was assigned a room on the ninth floor. This is one of the entry-level rooms. Room 919 is just a short walk away from the elevators. The common areas and rooms are a lot nicer than the lobby area. Upon entering, I was very pleased with the decor and the look of the place. This is very modern and gorgeous. The rooms are nicely designed. I love such Hilton. It is a great start to the year.
The warm decor and white marble with gold finish look very classy. It is sort of in a triangular shape. It comes with a single sink and plenty of counter space. All sorts of amenities are provided and toiletries are in large pump-size bottles from Crabtree and Evelyn.
The bathroom comes with a separate bathtub as well as a standing shower. The bathtub is spacious and good enough for two. Water pressure is great and I appreciate that they have another set of toiletries by the side of the bathtub. The standing shower is fully enclosed and comes with a handheld showerhead. Nicely designed without water from getting all over the place. Water pressure is decent and temperature control is excellent.
By the entrance, the spacious wardrobe comes with everything that you might need for your stay. There are plenty of hangers and an ironing kit.
Next to it is the minibar. It comes with a kettle alongside some coffee and packaged tea. You also have a fully stocked minibar below. I did wish that they had a proper Nespresso coffee machine over here but with an executive lounge, the impact isn’t huge. Bottles of drinking water are provided and these are replenished during daily housekeeping.
The two twin-size beds are in eh middle of the room. It is nicely set up and classy with the backboard. On each side of the bed, you can find nightstands with controls for the lighting, power outlets and even USB ports by the side. The bedding is great and high quality. The mattress and pillows offer great support. I slept well.
You can find a chest opposite the bed and this offers some additional storage area. The TV is also left on top of the chest and it is of a good size for the room. You can find a good number of both cable and international TV channels.
The circular working desk also comes with power outlets within reach and I appreciate them having both Type G plugs and the local ones. They also have USB ports too. The wifi connection is fast and stable. It comes equipped with a leather chair that works well for short periods of working.
There is a daybed along the window and this will be great for relaxing or grabbing some coffee. It comes with a good view of the surroundings to accompany you too. The sheers and blinds here are manually controlled. The rooms come with an amazing view over the city given that we are rather high up. You can even catch some of the fireworks that are popping all over the city on New Year’s Eve. Let me share some pictures of the amazing fireworks and vibes of NYE in Frankfurt below.

Fitness Centre & Pool
The hotel doesn’t run its fitness facility but hotel guests get access to the Fitness First facility located next door and directly linked to the hotel. You can simply access it with your guest card. There is also a side door from the lobby that leads to the facility. This is as good as it gets! After all, it is a professional working gym. It comes in being better equipped than any hotel gym with tons of professional and high-tech equipment.
The place also comes with a pool but it is more of one for you to do laps and exercise rather than a lounging and relaxing one. It is very busy with it being used by both hotel guests and Fitness First members. It is a heated pool which allows it to be used throughout the season.
Executive Lounge
This has to be one of the most unique executive lounges that I have been to. It is my first time encountering such a layout and configuration. The lounge spans both the 11th and 12th floors. It is located in the area just outside the elevators. It takes up the common area right outside the elevators. I would have assumed that these are the executive floors. There isn’t any staff manning the place but you simply get access to it via the elevators. It was only during the evening hours that there were some staff going around to clear dishes and refills. Here are some pictures of the lounge space. The main area with the refreshment area is on the 11th floor.
The lounge is open from 7am to 8pm daily with breakfast offered from 7am to 11am. Evening cocktails are offered from 6pm to 8pm. Throughout the rest of the day, all-day offering is offered. All Day Offerings include water, soft drinks, coffee and tea options with fruit and snack mix.
The Pre-dinner buffet and happy hour with alcoholic beverages are the main services of the lounge. It can get really busy, especially during peak occupancy. It is a small dinner replacement and there is usually hot food and a cheese platter, salads and some bread. You can get by with it. Especially when I am not a fan of German food. They also switch it up from day to day. I enjoyed both the chicken nuggets and the fried chicken.
There is a healthy drinks collection consisting of non-alcoholic drinks, German and foreign beers, rose wine, red wine, white wine, sparkling wine and various spirits.
I am quite happy with the executive lounge. It is one of the better ones that I have been to in Europe. I am not sure if I am a fan of the layout and design.
Breakfast at PARK Restaurant & Terrace
The breakfast is served at PARK Restaurant from 6.30am to 10.30am. During my stay, they had a special timing for New Year’s Day where breakfast is served from 7am to 12pm. This is very much appreciated since everyone will be partying and having a late night. It came in very handy since we were out to catch the fireworks and slept late. The restaurant is located on the ground floor towards the side. It is a very pretty restaurant and comes with a lovely view of the surrounding gardens. It gave me a very cosy feeling in this season and the weather. The large window panels offer tons of natural light.
Breakfast is served buffet style and the spread is very good. Drinks-wise, they had coffee, tea, juices, smoothies and even sparkling wine on offer. I am a huge fan of breakfast in Germany.
You can find a nice selection of breads, pastries, hot food, a huge salad spread, cold cuts, cereals and cheese. They even had avocado toast available. I love the tons of fresh food items. I love the yoghurts and honeycomb. I will let the photos do the rest of the sharing.
Conclusion
Great location! The hotel is right smack in the city centre. You are within walking distance to most attractions and the shopping area. It is not too difficult getting to the airport and train station too. This is pretty worth it and comfortable. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. I love the rooms and they had a decent breakfast. The executive lounge is also great. I can see myself coming back here again whenever I am in Frankfurt.
