After spending two nights in Wynn Palace I shifted over to Wynn Macau for one more night before heading back to Hong Kong. I wanted to try out both properties to review both and let you guys gauge which is the better one. I would also love to make full use of my 6 complimentary nights since I doubt I will be back to use up the remaining three nights. I am shocked by Macau prices and how they can command this with the sheer supply of rooms here. Prices at Wynn Resorts are by no means affordable which makes this deal even sweeter. In terms of location for tourists, this is the better one out of the two since it is nearer to the historical tourist area. As compared to Wynn Palace where there isn’t anything around. This is the older of the two resorts.

Booking Process & Pre Arrival

I booked directly with Wynn and Wynn Insider for the stay and made full use of a Mastercard promotion. Some months back, Wynn Insider was offering their top-tier Emerald status to World Elite Mastercard holders which I had access to on account of my Citi Prestige Card. This is especially generous as Wynn Insider Emerald status comes with 6 complimentary free nights across the two properties. If you stay a total of 8 nights, which means an extra 2 paid nights, I will get another 6 more nights for the next membership year. The rooms also include breakfast and all applicable taxes. I was booked into the base-level Deluxe Room for 2 nights. Rates here usually go for around 2500 MOP or 420 SGD. Wynn Macau comes with 1008 guest rooms and suites spread across 6 categories. You can check out the breakdown below.

Checking In

Getting to and from the property is easy enough since there is a complimentary shuttle bus service between the two properties. I got to Wynn Macau at around 1.20pm. The drop-off location for the property is extremely inconvenient as you have to walk one big round to the check-in counters and front entrance with no shelter. It is completely outdoors. There are also no bellboys on hand to help us with our bags.

Things were better once we got to the main entrance where the bellboys came to help us and we were warmly welcomed by a friendly associate who proceeded to check us in. All the information was given to us. There are no upgrades available as the hotel is full. We did at least get a room with a nice view. Late check-out is also extended till 2pm. The bellboy then ushered us to our room while helping us with the bags. He also made small talk and gave us a slight introduction to the property while doing so. That is a very nice touch.

Deluxe Room

I was assigned a room on the 18th floor, 1828 to be exact. The room measures a spacious 56 Sqm. That is as big as some suites out there. Upon entering the room you can find a very spacious entranceway with a connecting door to the room next door on the right. This can be pretty handy for large groups. I would love it if they had a stool or some hooks by the entrance.

The bathroom is on the left side and it is huge. This is even bigger than my room back home. You can find double sinks and also a full collection of amenities. Toiletries are house brand and they are generous with them. The bathroom comes with a separate bathtub and standing shower. The bathtub is very spacious and could fit 2 pax comfortably. I did wish that they had provided some bath salt.

The standing shower comes with a wall-mounted shower head which is not my kind of configuration. This makes it so hard to wash your lower extremities. There is a ledge inside which you can use to sit down during your shower. Water pressure and temperature controls are excellent.

Moving on, we can find a large spacious wardrobe. It comes with everything that you may require for the stay. There are also additional pillows inside. The luggage rack can also be found here. They also had complimentary shoeshine services if you require them.

You might have noticed that the room is slightly more dated as compared to Wynn Palace but I very much prefer this to the tacky design. The room is in a squarish configuration. I love that there is a separate sitting area. This can be classified as a junior suite. The couch could fit 2 to 3 pax comfortably with a coffee table.

In the corner you can find a working desk, the chair provides decent back support for short periods of work. Power outlets are within reach and nicely installed. The Wi-Fi connection is very strong in the room

On the other side of the wall, you can find out the fully stocked minibar. There are both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Packaged tea and coffee are also provided. I wish that they had a proper coffee machine here given the lack of an executive lounge.

The television is mounted on the wall above and I feel that the television is slightly small for the room size. While it is mounted at the angle it can be pivoted to face the bed and sitting area. The TV comes with a good number of both local and international cable TV channels. I did wish that they had some Chromecast or Airplay capabilities.

The view is outstanding from those full-length windows. You have a good view of the lake below as well as the surrounding view. This is quite amazing given how high up we are.

Right in front of the window, you can find two couches and a circular window. This will be great for dining. It is nice to have multiple seating areas in the room.

The king-size bed is located by the wall and faces the view of the room. It is very comfortable and plush. I love that it is on the firmer side. Plenty of pillows are provided but sadly they are on the softer side. I did wish that they had some memory foam or contour pillows. On both sides of the bed, you can find nightstands with power outlets within reach. Similarly, there is also a tablet on the side of the nightstand which allows you to control the lighting, the television and the air conditioning.

Turndown service is automatically offered in the evening. I do have to say that the noise cancelling is also not very good.

Pool

I did not manage to check out the gym but did pop by to see the pool. It is quite a lovely space and relaxing. There is a huge selection of cabanas and day beds by the side. This would be a rather lovely place to spend some time in the summer.

Breakfast at Cafe Esplanada

Breakfast is served at Cafe Esplanade. Breakfast is buffet style from 7am to 10.30am. Breakfast costs 268 MOP for adults or 138 MOP for children if not included in your rate or membership. The cafe is located just opposite the lift lobby. It is so opulent and majestic with the decor. I was down to have breakfast at about 9am. it was still very quiet in the morning.

Breakfast is extensive and everything looks very good. Here are some pictures of the selections. You can find almost everything from fresh juices, continental items, western selections, Asian selections and even an extensive sashimi selection.

Conclusion

I far prefer this as compared to Wynn Palace. While it is less luxurious and much more dated as compared to the former. The less “opiang” and opulent decor is very much more up my alley. The location is also more conducive to tour the historical old city. I will recommend this if you are here for more sightseeing and the Wynn Palace if the Casino is your main purpose for visit. Very thankful to be able to enjoy these complimentary stays under the MasterCard promotion and status match.
