I was back in Taipei for the second time this year in August. A twist of events got me visiting the city for the second time this year. I love being back in Taipei despite the weather at this time of the year. Right after staying in Just Sleep Sanchong, I shifted to the Ximending area and stay in Just Sleep Ximending. Ximending is the top location to stay in for visitors. This area can be considered as the Mongkok of Taipei. It is where you want to be. The location is as good as it gets! Just Sleep Ximending is a popular property for visitors. The area is surrounded by numerous eateries and shopping options. You can check out some of the other Silks Hotel Group properties that I have stayed in Taiwan here such as Regent Taipei, Wellspring by Silks Jiaoxi, Silks Place Taroko, Silks Club Kaohsiung and Silks Place Tainan. The hotel has been around since 2009 but has since gone thru a recent renovation in 2019.
Booking Process & Pre Arrival
The Just Sleep Ximending is right across the Ximending area and just 5 mins away from the metro. You are just one stop away from Taipei Main Station. It is super convenient. You can use the metro to whisk around the city in minutes. It is a great base to explore both the surrounding area as well as Taipei. Seeing The World In Steps stayed as a guest of Silks Hotel Group. I stayed in their Deluxe Triple Room. Just Sleep Ximending features 143 guest rooms across 7 categories.

Checking In
I arrive at the hotel at around 1pm. I took a taxi from Just Sleep Sanchong. It took around 20 mins and cost me 250 NTD. The ground floor is just a reception area and is located in a mixed-used building. The main lobby is located on the fifth floor. There are clear signs and you require key card access for the other levels. The hotel location is excellent and just opposite Ah Chung Mian Xian. There was no wait and I was immediately helped at the reception area. I love the lobby area!

There are plenty of seatings by the lobby for guests to res. This also acts as the all-day lounge where you can enjoy some coffee, tea and snacks. They even have some popcorn in the evening.
Deluxe Triple Room
I was assigned a super spacious Deluxe Triple Room located on the ninth floor. This room is great for families. It comes with three small beds. I love the stylish trendy look of the place. The regular configuration and layout make the room very spacious and allow for good use of the space. Upon entering the room, there is a very short entryway with the minibar set up area immediately to the right. It comes with complimentary drinking water, a kettle and a mini fridge. You can find some tea and coffee provided.
Next to it is the open-concept wardrobe that comes with plenty of hangers.
As we move into the main space of the room itself, there are little hooks and knobs on the wall. This allows you to hang some items and provide additional storage. This concept came about from the shopping-oriented activities in Ximending. The long bench also offers additional seating and this could also be a luggage rack for your suitcases. Underneath it, you can find the room safe.
The room is very spacious. The room comes with three single beds. It is perfect for three adults or two parents and a kid. It is challenging to get accommodations when travelling in a group of 3. I love the memory foam mattress. It provides awesome back support. It might feel firm at first but you will soon fall in love with it. Nightstands are available by each bed, there are controls for the lighting and power outlets. I am glad that they did not miss out on this important aspect.
The high-quality television is mounted on the wall in the middle of the room. It comes with a good number of both local and international cable TV channels.
In the corner of the room, there is a dining area with a rather spacious rectangular table and seating for four pax. This is a great spot to enjoy all the street food and snacks that you buy from Ximending. It can also act as a working area. Power outlets are within reach. The wifi connection for the room is very good.
Now let me come back to the bathroom. It comes with plenty of counter space with a single sink. Single-use amenities are not provided. These can be requested from the front desk if you require them. There is a Japanese bidet toilet here.
The bathroom comes with a standing shower. There is a handheld shower head that can be taken down or mounted on the wall. The water pressure and temperature control is excellent. I got a lovely shower. We also got a chance to look at the Superior Twin Room and the Superior Family Room here.

Fitness Centre
The fitness centre is on the 6th floor. It is open from 9am to 9pm daily. The gym is on the smaller side and comes with just a couple of types of equipment. There are some treadmills, bikes and weights. There is even some yoga mat for your use. It does get the job done if you need a quick workout. The equipment is well maintained.
Laundry Room
Besides the gym, you can also find a laundry room on the 5th floor. It is just by the reception area. It certainly comes in handy if you are doing a long stay. There are washing machines, dryers, steam irons, ironing boards and washing powder for a token sum.
Kaleidoscope
The facility is found on the 7th floor and is open from 9am to 9pm. It is a little picture spot in the hotel that is popular for the gram. This is a favourite for both adults and kids.
Just Play
The kid’s play area is on the 8th floor. It is open daily from 9am to 9pm. It is a good place for the little ones to enjoy and burn some extra energy.
Breakfast at Just Cafe
Breakfast is served at Just Cafe. Breakfast service is from 7am to 10.30am daily. It can get crowded at later times. It is just in the area beside the lobby. Breakfast cost NT$400+10% for an adult and NT$200+10% for a child if not included in your rate. I was down for breakfast at around 10am. The spread isn’t overly huge and everything looks good.
There are both continental options and hot dishes. We offer salad, fruit, bread, hot porridge, vegetable and some local dishes. Here are some pictures of the breakfast. This is a good place to grab a bite and kick-start your day of travel.
Conclusion
Just Sleep Ximending offers a great option for those who want to be in the centre of everything. It’s close to all the buzz. It doesn’t get any better than this. For the typical tourists, you won’t go wrong with this. The hotel is well equipped with amenities and facilities. This can be seen thru their play area for the little ones. They are also one of the couple hotels in the area that offers sufficient spaces for bigger groups. I will have no qualms about coming back here if I want to stay in this area.
