Continuing on my journey in Berlin, I decided to extend for 2 more nights in the city. While I could have extend at the place where I was staying originally at Hilton Berlin, I thought that I should probably try out some new property, furthermore, the rates are much cheaper at the Hampton. It is also in another area of Berlin. Located at the prime transportation and shopping district, Alexanderplatz. The location of this property is pretty good as well. Furthermore, for those looking to leave Berlin, the direct airport bus stop here as well as easy connections to the main train station. Thankful to the staff at my previous hotel, I stayed in the lounge and check out pretty late. I only went to the Hampton around 8pm in the evening. It is an easy ride away on the UBahn!
For my stay, the rated were around 120 SGD a night. Quite a fair pricing for a city hotel and the ability to earn some points. Despite the late hour, it is still pretty crowded at check in, thankfully there is an elite desk for hilton members and I did not have to wait too long. Staff were pretty curt and check in was smooth, there is no thank for loyalty and all. Pretty much what you could expect from a frills less property. Common areas looks good and fresh. Kinda new too!
I was asked straight up what do I want to have for my amenity. At the Hampton, it is a choice between 250 points or a choice of snack and non alcoholic beverages. I choose the snack and drink. This is my first time staying at an Hampton actually, at all Hampton properties, breakfast is complimentary for all guest.
My very first impression was that the common areas and rooms felt fresh and new. The property might be rather new or recently renovated. While Hampton are not required to upgrade elite members, I was upgraded to a family room that comes with a sofa bed. The room is rather spacious and huge.
I am also impressive with the quality of the finishing. Towards the end of the room is also a sofa that can be converted to a sofa bed if you have more people sleeping, The room is a comfortable space for 3 person.
Immediately after entering the toilet is on the right. I will come back to this later on. The room is mainly rectangular in shape and rather huge with a full size wardrobe and ironing set. Hangers provided were also the removable kind. Which is awesome.
Totally not expecting from such a cheap place. In the middle you have the queen size bed which is firm and comfortable. I had a nice rest each night. Surrounded by two night stand I love that there are outlets located nearby the bed too which is so important.
The room is really spacious with plenty of room to walk, The TV and mini bar set up is organised together, Do note that there is no fridge in the room, There is a proper working desk as well in the room which is commendable.
While nothing impressive, the room have a pretty nice view too. Although it faces mostly a residential area you still get a sight of the Berlin tower. This is in fact much nicer than the view that I had in Hilton Berlin previously. While I am unsure on the policy of Hampton. There are no water being provided in the room.
The toilet is spacious and huge. It is kind of frills less given that the toiletries were the dispenser kind and of a local brand which is actually not too bad. Water pressure is also super good and the temperature control is excellent. Although the showering area is only separated by a curtain and it kind of get wet all over the room after showering. There is also no hook in the toilet which doesn’t make sense for you to hang your clothes or towel. This is the only main criticism of the whole place, the toilet is so badly designed.
Breakfast is served from 6am to 11.30am. The duration is really generous although it might get a little crowded since everyone gets access to it. It somehow felt like an residence inn. Selection is by no means huge. But I do love that they have multiple stations located throughout the place to prevent crowding which is a norm here given that everyone get access. Breakfast is nothing amazing. Spectecular when look at from a free point of view but lacklustre if you are a premium members when you could probably get much better breakfast as a elite benefit.
You can find some juice, water, coffee. Food wise there are some croissants, bread, it is also cute that they even had a make your own waffle machine. You can also find some cold cuts and cereals. Vegetables and fruits are also on offer. For hot dishes wise they have boiled eggs, scrambled eggs as well as bacon, sausages and beans. Not too impressive but alright for a bite and save cost!
Overall, it is alright to stay at this property, price is fair and the location is good. It is also easy to gain access to other parts of the city and other places. There is a direct bus to the airport just around the corner too. Property is clean and good. Comfy beds, safe, spacious rooms, easy access to public transport and good shopping district. I will definitely come back to stay here, especially at this price point. Of course, it can’t be compared to a Conrad or a Hilton. But it gets all your basic needs.
Does it offer slippers? The food is so-so. Are there any outside eateries around that offers breakfast?
