Fresh off my Raffles Jakarta stay. I went over to the Fairmont. This is the other property that I would like to check out while in Jakarta. I was at first deciding between this and the Raffles. Why not do both! I am, after all, just here to relax, and this allows me to check out more property in the city. It is an even better deal this way if I stayed one night each on a luxury rate. The Fairmont is priced slightly lower than the Raffles. It is also less central but well-connected to malls. This makes it really attractive too. I have pretty high expectations now of Accor after coming here from my stay at Raffles. It will be nice to do a head-to-head of the two best properties of Accor over here. The property is, though, quite old and has been around for around a decade since it opened.

Booking Process & Pre Arrival

I will be staying here for 1 night and got the base-level room. I got some information from the hotel ahead of my stay. For booking an Accor Preferred Rate, you pay the best available rate and get to enjoy extra benefits such as a 100 USD credit, breakfast and priority for early check-in and late check-out. It is also a fully qualified rate for earning Accor points. This is handy since I had zuro status. There are no pre arrival contact and information. I had pre-booked the restaurant and spa for my stay. They upgraded my stay the night before to the next category. On the morning of my stay, I was informed that they had extended a suite upgrade for my stay. This is outstanding given my status. The Fairmont Jakarta comes with 488 guest rooms and suites across 11 categories. Some of them are residents. You can find the breakdown below.

Checking In

I took a car over from the Raffles. It is not a long distance, but with how bad the traffic is, it took us around 30 minutes to get to the hotel. I got there at around 12.40pm. There is a security check for the vehicles right before you enter the main hotel driveway. You will need to go through another security checkpoint before you enter the main lobby. Upon arrival, the bellboy came over to assist us with the bags. It definitely felt more business-like here with the vibes. The lobby area is much less exclusive but grand with high ceilings and plenty of seating. It is nice to see the decor up over here.

The check-in counters are located towards the inner part of the lobby. It is very classy. There was a priority line available for Accor elite members. I was warmly welcomed and helped by a friendly lady. I was warmly welcomed, and all the information was reconfirmed. They also informed me that I will be upgraded to one of their Fairmont Suites. This is another amazing upgrade at an Accor hotel. They are surely treating me so well. I have also booked a luxury rate, and the US$100 credit will be converted into 1656000 IDR in local currency. Late check-out is automatically extended till 2pm.

Besides the main entrance, they also have another side entrance that links you directly to the malls next door from 6.30am to 11.30pm. This is very handy.

Fairmont Suite

I was assigned a Fairmont suite located on the 15th floor. 1524 to be exact. It is located in the corner. This is their standard lead-in suite. Despite this, the spaciousness and size of the suite are outstanding. The Fairmont suite measures an amazing 113 Sqm. How awesome is this! Straight upon entering, you have a huge entranceway and then the powder room on the left. This comes with a basin and toilet.

On the right here, there is some extra wardrobe space for additional storage if you require. The entire space of the living area is available at a glance. It is extremely spacious with the regular rectangular layout. This allows for great use of space. It might even feel a little too sparse. The hotel can definitely take note of this during the upcoming renovation.

Just beside the wardrobe, you can find the minibar area, which is well equipped with bottles of drinking water, a proper Nespresso Coffee Machine and a kettle. There are also capsules and packaged tea being provided. These are replenished during daily housekeeping as well as during turndown service. It is a fully stocked mini bar with all sorts of snacks in the cabinet below. You can also find a mini fridge that is well stocked with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for your stay.

The living room comes with a very spacious dining area with a full-size dining table and seating available for 4 people. You can easily squeeze in another four more seats to make this into an eight-seater. This will be perfect for gathering and parties for small, cosy celebrations.

The living space decor kind of reminds me of a Grand Hyatt. I love how spacious the couch is, which comes with seating for six surrounding a coffee table. There is a lot of space at the back of the couch and at the far end of the suite.

The TV is mounted on a smart TV that is high quality and comes with a good number of both local and international cable tv channels. There is more storage space underneath the television. The TV also supports casting capabilities, and there are various smart TV apps that you can use, like Netflix and YouTube. I did feel that the television was a little on the smaller side. It could definitely use a much bigger TV for a suite of this size

The suite comes with a pretty lovely view of the golf course opposite the road and the surrounding area, including the stadium. It is unblocked, given how high up we are. This is pretty nice and scenic. I am also happy to see that the curtains and blinds over here are automated and electronically controlled.

The bedroom area is equally as spacious as the living room. It is segregated by an actual door. This is my preferred layout with proper segregation. On the right is the walk-in wardrobe. The luggage rack here can fit a medium-sized checked-in bag nicely. There are also plenty of drawers, a safe, an ironing kit and bath slippers. Plenty of hangers are also provided.

The centrepiece of the bedroom area definitely has to be the plush king-size bed. I love that it is on the firmer side, which offers excellent back support. The bedding was extremely high quality and smooth. They also had a pillow menu that allows you to customise your sleeping experience. I got some Tempur pillows, which offer amazing neck support. On both sides of the beds, you have nightstands with controls for the lighting and power outlets. In front of the bed, you have an ottoman which offers some additional storage and sitting spaces in the bedroom.

By the side of the windows, you have a lounging area that offers some space for reading a book, relaxing, grabbing a coffee and taking in the view. The amount of sitting area in this suite is endless.

An elongated TV platform stretches throughout the window area, which is used for the TV and for the working desk. A large, high-quality smart screen television is left on it. In fact, this television is even bigger than the one in the living room. Similarly, it comes with a good number of both local and international cable tv channels. This is perfect for a little movie night. To the side of the TV, they have made it into a little working area. It comes with an armchair that provides great support for a short period of working. The Wi-Fi works well here.

From the bedroom, you can get a nice view of the stadium and the surrounding area.

Finally, let’s move on to the bathroom. This is another favourite spot of mine in the suite. The bathroom comes with his and her sinks with plenty of counter space in the middle. They have also nicely placed a sit-down vanity area with a flip-up mirror here. This will be perfect for dressing up and getting your makeup done. I really love that even the bathroom comes with a view. How idyllic this is when you are washing up.

The Le Labo amenities are amazing!

The bathroom comes with both a bathtub and a standing shower. It is one of those Japanese setups where they have everything together in the same showering space. This prevents water from getting all over the place, and you can also get from the tub to the shower easily. I also appreciate the fact that they had a bath pillow here. The water pressure and temperature control are excellent. I had an excellent shower with the Le Labo amenities. This is the standard brand for Fairmont.

Swimming Pool

All of the facilities are located on the fourth floor. This includes the pool, the spa and the fitness centre. The pool is on the opposite side of the gym. Towels and water are provided. Everything over here is well taken care of by the staff. You can find the place tidied and with sun beds nicely flanked on both sides of the pool. They even had bath covers for the sunbeds, which were nicely placed by the staff. The pool area is simple with a regular-sized pool. You do get plenty of sun over here. Great spot.

Fitness Centre

The fitness centre is a very nice and bright space. It is very spacious. The spot is well-maintained with towels and water provided. They also have sanitising wipes. All of the machines are kept in tip-top condition. They also have a Yoga or Pilates room with exercise balls that you can use. All sorts of equipment can be found over here, and it also comes with a great view of the surrounding area and the pool area. It is a great space and open 24 hours. You can access it any time you want. This is perfect for a workout.

Willow Spa

This is the signature spa for Fairmont properties. You can find their menu here. Do note that Accor members also enjoy a further 10% discount off the prices. I am also able to use the credits in my rate for the spa. Prices are very fair and so good for a five-star luxury hotel. I book myself into their signature 90-minute massage right before checking out. This costs 1,100K IDR. We were met by the therapist and then led to the private massage room. The treatment then begins with a foot wash and scrub with sea salt.

The room and massage bed were really comfortable, and in fact, I enjoyed it even more than the one at the Raffles. I like it that they really focused on the areas that I wanted to, and they have a hot compress after the treatment, which gets rid of most of the oil feeling. I highly recommend getting a treatment during your stay.

1945 Restaurant

I went to dine at their signature Indonesian restaurant, 1945, during my stay, since I had some credits to clear. Do note that your Accor discount also applies over here. It is leaning towards a fine dining concept over here. Prices are very fair and affordable for the quality. It is not a lot higher than restaurants outside. We had some mocktails, the mie goreng, prawns, and the grilled sea bass. We absolutely over-ordered, and the portion is on the higher side as well. The staff also brought over some crackers and sambal, which is another highlight of the stay.

The entire meal comes up to around 790K IDR for the two of us with drinks. Fantastic value for money.

Spectrum Restaurant

Breakfast is served over at the hotel’s main restaurant, located on the first floor. The breakfast is served until 10:30 am, which is the standard for a city hotel as compared to the Raffles. I got breakfast included as part of my luxury agent rate. I went down to have breakfast at around 9am. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and shown to a seat. Despite it being a weekday, the restaurant was bustling. They had a huge conference crowd. Right by the entrance, they had some welcome wellness booster shots. I did feel like the restaurant was too dark over here. It is so gloomy, which is not ideal for a breakfast restaurant. I would like it if they could let in some natural light.

The selection is huge over here with plenty of options. I really love the freshly squeezed juice from the drinks counters. The orange pineapple one was especially good. The hot drinks orders were taken by the staff. Service over here is definitely less polished than that at the Raffles. Pastries were really fresh. I will just let the pictures do the rest of the speaking.

Conclusion

The property is on the dated side but well-maintained with quality offerings. The stay was of fantastic value and quality. I really love the Le Labo amenities. The bedding is also top-notch. This is my first-ever Fairmont stay, and I am just getting a little introduction to the brand standards. This property certainly exceeded my expectations, and they have nicely upgraded me to a fantastic suite, even when I am only staying on a luxury agent rate. I do hope to be back next time since the location is really good. Don’t miss out on dining at their signature Indonesian restaurant, too. I can’t wait to be back for a longer stay. Kudos to the concierge and the team for the assistance with my shopping during the stay.
