The only Priority Pass lounge is located in Kota Kinabalu airport. There is one Travel Club Lounge over in the international area and another one in the domestic area. This is the only contract lounge. I will imagine it being used by various airline lounges, too. I have always appreciated having a contract lounge that I can access with my cards at airports. This prevents the need to waste money on overpriced food and drinks at airports. This is most likely operated by the same operator in KL.
Access Requirements
The Travel Club Lounge is open from 2pm to 12am daily. Despite this information on the website, the lounge was already open when I was there at about 12 pm. You can access this lounge through a lounge program membership, such as Priority Pass. I have an unlimited Priority Pass through my UOB Reserve Card or my Citi Prestige Credit Card, which provides me with 12 yearly visits. I access the lounge primarily using these two cards. A standard entrance will cost 35USD. Typical guest entitlements follow.
Arrival & Location
The lounge is located near Gate B6, all the way at the end of the corridor. It is a pretty small airport. There is only one contract lounge over here.
Travel Club Lounge
I was surprised by the opening timing. It is expected. I ended up being the first customer in the lounge. It did get slightly busier later on. It got some really nice pictures of the entire place. The lounge looks very new. It is not a huge place, and you can see it at a glance. To the left is the main lounging area with couches arranged neatly. The seats are pretty comfortable. Wi-Fi is available here, and there are power outlets within reach. I also love the armchair area over at the end. There are some televisions around the lounge. I appreciate them being kept silent.
On the other side, there are more lounging areas as well as dining tables that are much more suitable for working or dining.
Toilets and showers
They do not have any showers or toilets here in the lounge.
Food and Drinks
The only alcoholic drinks available are beers. They have Heineken and Tiger beer available. You will have to get them from the staff. They also have some tea and soft drinks in the fridge. The selection is pretty good. I appreciate them providing bottled water.
Food-wise, you have some cakes, a salad bar and a couple of hot dishes. It looks pretty decent. I didn’t get anything since I had lunch prior to arriving at the airport. They look quite good with a live station, too.
Conclusion
Do note that there are no toilets and showers located in this lounge. The lounge certainly boosts a nicer environment compared to the main terminal area. It is quite a lovely place to wait for your flight. Do note that there is another security checkpoint before the gate; you will need to allow some time for it. Decent enough!
