I am back on board the A350 for my flight back to Singapore. I specifically chose this flight for the timing and the meals served on board. It will also get me back in Singapore just in time for a great night’s sleep before continuing on my travels the next day. It is finally time to head back after an amazing 1.5 weeks back down under. This is another SQ premium cabin that I got for free by adding it as a sector to my main flight. I didn’t really had an idea to Ho Chi Minh but figures that it will be nice to revisit after a decade, eat at 4P and also check out the Hilton. I need to go new places besides my usual Bangkok and Bali. This ended up making more sense since I tag on another flight on Starlux. It is also a surprise that they are using a 350 LH aircraft for this sector. That makes it quite a nice treat for this 2 hour flight. Do remember to check out my compilation of SQ Premium cabins’ flight experience over here, too. I will just include some pictures of the hardware.
Checking In
I had already check in ahead in Melbourne and got my boarding pass. I went back to Terminal 2 at around 6.45am to check in again and recheck my bags. I also need to get some of the better boarding pass. Those flimsy ones from Melbourne simply couldn’t make it. Traffic was non existent at this timing. We were helped at the counter in no time. We did had some slight problem with the boarding pass due to the flight from Melbourne which wrongly said that we needed visa verification. We had some time at the SKL in T2 before boarding. It was so crowded.
Boarding Process
We got one of the worst gate available in terminal 2 and it is such a far walk away. Boarding is assigned for 8.20am. Do cater some time for security as it is at the gate. Boarding started on time with those needing assistance and then business class passengers. I was one of the first to board and definitely prefer waiting in the comfort of my gorgeous Singapore Airlines seat rather than the terminal area. The IFM welcomed me at the door and the cabin crew, Farah who was working my aisle then escorted me over to my seat. She also introduced herself. What a great welcome!
I was then offered a welcome drink as well as a hot towel. I love it when the crew offer you your choice of drink. I went with some Guatemala double espresso and it was excellent. This is a sign of a top notch set. Farah who was working my aisle was quite a gem. Meals orders were also reconfirmed. Both leading also came by to say hi and to welcome me onboard. We were pretty slow in boarding and doors were only closed around 9.40am. We push back shortly after and had some time on the ground before a long taxi to the runway. We were airborne around 10.15am. I certainly don’t mind this slight delay.
Singapore Airlines A350 LH Business Class
I shall not dwell too much on the hardware and the seats since I have reviewed this product countless times. You can find some of my recent reviews of this cabin here and here. I will include some pictures of my seats here. The bulkhead seats are amazing and the best on board. These are as good as or superior to some First Class out there.
Do also note that the toilets are now stocked with the latest amenities from Payot rather than Penhaligons.
Meal Service
Given the short flight the crew sprang right into service immediately after the seat belt sign is turned off. For this flight they are offering a breakfast service. You can find the menu here. I pre ordered from the BTC ahead and went with a new addition, the egg souffle. Service started about 15 mins later and via a tray.
I love the fruit bowl today which comes with cherries! It was so delicious! I skipped the yogurt. I ordered the Gruyère Egg Soufflé which is served with Sausage and Wild Mushroom Ragout. I love the flavours. This is an excellent dish. The cheese goes so well with the eggs. The spiral chicken sausage were also flavourful and meaty. The mushroom sauce is excellent. I wish that there was more of it. I really enoyed the dish and mop it all off. I will order this in a cafe too! Awesome with a flute of champagne. I will highly recommend this for breakfast service.
I got a couple more double espresso after that and wind down as we approach HCM!
Conclusion
What is there to fault about this! Excellent crew working my aisle with a great meal. I always get mixed experience on the 350. More than often my crew on the regional are leaps better than the long haul. The hardware is more than enough for this flight. It is worth hunting out these planes if you are on a short regional flights. You can at times even score a Premium Economy seat when booking on economy class. The flight went over in no time despite the short delay. I could not even finish one movie. Now, lets tackle the crazy immigration queues.
