ANA lounges are not my cup of tea! I love their food and drinks but it is always way too crowded. I have been to both the Narita and Haneda Lounge multiple times but it is always packed full to the brim which makes it kind of uncomfortable. It also takes a huge amount of luck to even score a shower suite! The waiting time is in hours. This is probably due to the flight that Premium Economy passengers on ANA get access to. I have not been to any of the locations outside of Tokyo. This time around I had the chance to do so since I am flying back home from Osaka. Weirdly, SQ doesn’t advertise this lounge as they use another contract lounge instead. Given that this is the second major international airport in Japan or their hub, I am curious to see what things would be like. This was a rather short visit since the lounge was closing shortly after my visit. Let’s see what the ANA Osaka Lounge is like! Will it be disappointing as well?
Access Requirements
The ANA Osaka Lounge is permanently closed as of now!
Arrival & Location
The lounge is located near Gate 19 and far from the gates that SQ uses. It is quite a distance even with automated travellers. Do be prepared to spare around 10 to 15 mins. Even though we have opted for the duty-free vouchers from SQ when checking in, there is no trouble with us getting entrance with our boarding pass.
ANA Business Lounge Osaka Kansai
The lounge is rather simple and on the smaller side. It consists of a long rectangular space with the entrance in the middle on both sides. The lounge then stretches out on both sides. It does come with tarmac views if you are here during the day. Most of the spaces are filled up with typical lounge couches. They are comfortable. Wifi is available and there are also some bench seatings along the windows. Here are some pictures of the place.
The lounge is on the smaller side with it being their secondary hub. It is also very unmemorable.
Toilets and Showers
The lounge comes with its toilets. It is simple but well-maintained. Nothing too fancy.
Food and Drinks
This aspect is very disappointing. I was expecting a lot more for a airline operated lounge in one of their secondary hub. At the time of my visit there are just some dishes on offer such as their signature curry rice and the fried noodles. There is also some vegetarian options. The noodle bar or station that is seen in their Tokyo lounge is no where to be found here.
Drinks-wise is slightly better. You have a selection of international spirits, a Japanese beer machine and my favourite Iced Green Tea. There is also soda.
Conclusion
A very disappointing lounge with subpar food options. Perhaps it is for the better that SQ doesn’t advertise this lounge as it is pretty bad. SQ instead uses the KIX Lounge Premium and KIX Lounge Kansai for its passengers. However, it does open up the trick where you can have both the duty-free voucher and lounge access. This trick is also dead in the water now that this lounge is closed for good. Kansai airport is such a disappointing airport to fly out from. You should just come as late as possible.
