I had the opportunity to check out the main and flagship lounge of Brussels Airlines at Brussels Airport. THE LOFT is quite a unique collaboration between Brussels and Lexus! They have done up a special collaboration with Lexus, a luxury car brand. I am excited to visit this lounge. It looks exciting and lovely from the pictures online. Brussels Airlines has three lounges over here in Brussels Airport. Sunrise and THE LOFT are in the Schengen Area. THE VIEW are in the B Gates. I made sure to check it out while flying out of Brussels to the UK. This will be a good chance with my KF Gold status. You can still access it if you’re departing for other non-Schengen flights, but do make sure to cater some time to clear immigration later on.
Access Requirements
THE LOFT by Brussels Airlines and Lexus Lounge is open daily from 5am to 9pm. Within these times, you should be able to access the lounge regardless of which Star Alliance flight you take. Currently, all Star Alliance Group First Class, Business Class and Star Alliance Gold Members holders are allowed access to the lounge. Senator, Frequent Traveller Member can access the lounges with guests. HON Circle members can bring in one companion + spouse/partner + children under the age of 18. This is a standard Star Alliance lounge. Typical access rules for guests follow. I access it with my Krisflyer Flyer Elite Gold status. Access can also be purchased for 39 Euros for Premium Economy passengers and 49 Euros for Economy passengers.
Arrival & Location
The lounge is located in Pier A. This is the Schengen Area. You can find it to the left after clearing security. Technically, you are in the Schengen area after clearing security. The security checkpoint is in the middle of the airport. To the right is the non-Schengen area, where you have to clear immigration. Gold Track security lines are available for Business Class, Star Alliance Gold and KrisFlyer Gold members. THE LOFT is located across gate A42, and you can find it one level above. Simply access it easily with your escalator. While Singapore Airlines invites their passengers to use the contract Diamond Lounge in the B gates, you can still use this much more superior lounge with a detour. While there are priority lines for clearing security, there aren’t any for immigration. This can get pretty long, so do make sure to cater some additional time for it.
THE LOFT by Brussels Airlines and Lexus Lounge
The lounge comes with a warm wood finish and a gorgeous view of the tarmac. It feels so relaxing over here. This is one of the nicest that I have visited. I was greeted with a lovely sunset when I visited in the morning. How nice is this? The lounge can be separated into two areas. The main space comes with the refreshment area and the bar, together with other facilities. The other space will be the Lexus area.
Let me first share about the main space. There are plenty of seatings over here including some proper dining tables. There are also large communal tables for sharing. It was very busy in the morning when I visited the lounge. You can also find high top seatings and couches by the window with a great view. These will be my go to seats, given the tarmac views.
There is also a kid’s playroom here.
The other side of the lounge is more classy, and this is the Lexus area! It comes with sleek leather seats and plenty of Lexus branded merch. There is even a counter here. It felt like a showroom without cars. I wonder if you can buy or order a Lexus over here.
The armchairs here mimic the car seats of Lexus. Here are some pictures of the area. This area is much quieter than the main area of the lounge. There are also some refreshments over here.
You can find the Spa area at the end of the Lexus area. This is where you can find the restrooms, showers, massage chairs and nap rooms. This is pretty impressive. I was not expecting this at all. It sure beats the usual LH Group Senator and Business Lounge.
They also have six individual shower suites. These are available on a first come, first-serve basis. You can get in line with a beeper in the shower area. They were busy in the morning. The shower rooms are very nice. It is equipped with a Wi-Fi charger, a Dyson hairdryer and a super awesome GROHE AQUASYMPHONY shower system that builds in music and lighting with your shower experience. It is way too fancy. Amenities were house brand. I wish that I had a chance to take a shower.
There are also nap rooms available, similarly on a first-come, first-served basis. I only managed to get a glance. It seems decent enough with fresh blankets. The staff was on hand to maintain and clean them.
Food & Drinks
There are multiple food areas scattered around the lounge, the main ones in the main space. You can find a bar with all sorts of alcoholic drinks, including Belgian draft beers, Bottled Beers, Cava, Red Wines, White Wines, and Spirits. This is your last chance to soak up some awesome Belgian Beers. I love them. Top notch in this aspect.
You can also find some tea and coffee counters. Juices and sodas are available, too. I would really love for them to offer barista-made coffee. That will be full marks.
Food wise I was here during breakfast service. You can find a selection of pastries, cold cuts, fruits and salads. Hot items includes bacon, beans, tomatoes, potatoes and scrambled eggs. They were basic but delicious.
There are also some whole fruits, cakes and pastries in the corner.
Conclusion
The lounge is one of the better ones among the Star Alliance network. The collaboration was pretty unique. I love putting my KF status to good use, especially around Europe. I am unsure of the linkage between Brussels Airlines and Lexus. I wish we had more of such collab. Perhaps a BMW Senator Lounge in Munich? I have heard of a dedicated space for HON Circle members featuring amenities such as a spa, private nap rooms, and a live kitchen. I did not see any signs of this. The design, as well as the sunrise view, was impeccable. I love the Spa concept with the day rooms and impressive showers. This will be fantastic for transits or layovers. Great place to check it out if you have some time! It is just a shame that you need to take some time to clear border controls for non-Schengen flights.
