Welcome to Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong, the first Moxy hotel in Thailand and the largest Moxy hotel in APEC! I love this quirky brand. It is unbelievable how long it took for Moxy to enter the market. I heard plenty of great things about this property when they opened earlier this year in Feb and how lovely the location is. The hotel is centrally located. This is one of the best spots for leisure tourists. The location is their strongest aspect. The hotel is in the core Sukhumvit area which makes it easy to reach most places on foot. It would be nice for Marriott members to get another choice in Bangkok. Let’s check it out and Moxy up Bangkok!

Booking Process & Pre Arrival

I will be staying at Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong for two nights. The hotel is located in the Sukhumvit part of the city and in the middle of everything. It is very convenient to travel around and escape from the busy traffic area of Sukhumvit. You can walk to most places of interest to travellers. Big C is right next door. There are lovely overhead connections that you can use to walk comfortably to Platinum, Central, Siam, MBK and Erawan. The BTS is also nearby. They are running a Moxy Madness sale with daily breakfast, THB 500 F&B credit, 24-hour room usage, and up to 5K Marriott Bonvoy points per night when staying two or more nights. Do check it out. Seeing The World In Steps remained as a guest of Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong. I am booked into their Moxy Queen Room. Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong features 504 rooms across 6 categories. You can find the breakdown below.

Checking In

I got to the hotel at around 4pm. I took a Bolt over where I was staying previously. The BTS will also be handy to reach the hotel with it being a 10-minute stroll away from Chit Lom Station. The driver did struggle slightly to find the entrance of the hotel which is linked to the adjacent mall known as The Market. You can look out for the After You Cafe entrance. Staff are on hand to help you with your bags. The ground floor is just a reception and waiting area. You can find the concierge and some seatings here.

The actual hotel lobby is on the 9th floor. I love the energy of this place! It is so pumped up. The place received tons of natural light which blends in so well with the Moxy look. The lobby comes with plenty of seating and communal areas. I will share more about these later. The design is inspired by traditional Siam Theatres from the past. This is apparent in the lights to the design of the bar. The high ceilings make it so spacious. At Moxy, the bar is also where you check-in.

How fun! I was immediately helped by the bartender and provided with all the information. A welcome shot is offered. You can get it virgin or dirty! It is made with pineapple juice, butterfly pea flower and Thai rum.

Here are some pictures of the lobby area. There are plenty of inspired features. The communal spaces come with plenty of seating and toys for the guests. I love the tuk-tuk and popcorn machine here. Free popcorn for all guests. The restaurant is located to the side. Late check-out is extended till 1pm.

There is one set of elevators between the ground floor and the 9th. There is another set of elevators in the rooms. By the side of the gym, at the far end of level 9, there is another elevator that takes you directly to the skywalk links. The skywalk is super convenient and my recommended way to travel in and out if you are not taking a car. From here, you can walk to numerous places.

Moxy Queen Room

I love the theatre-inspired look and design around the hotel. This includes the room numbers which it is made to look like a theatre box display. This is classy. I was assigned a room on the higher floors.

It is just a short walk away from the elevators. This is the base-level room here. A majority of the rooms belong to this category. It is a huge property! I love the look of the place. It is so vibrant and energetic. The room is cosy and comfortable for couples.

Straight after entering, you can find the bathroom to the right with a sliding door. It slides and pivots between the bathroom and the minibar area. The bathroom is designed and makes full use of the space in the area. It comes with a single sink and plenty of counter space. A set of toiletries and amenities are provided. The amenities are housebranded and in large pump-size bottles. They smell excellent and lather well. l love the look of the lightbulb and the mirror. There is also a cosmetic mirror and hairdryer here.

The shower space is spacious and comes with a glass screen that prevents most of the water from getting all over the place. It comes with both a handheld showerhead and a rainforest showerhead. The water pressure and temperature are decent. I love that they had a ledge inside the shower room. They are also very thoughtful about installing the tap on the opposite side of the showering area. This allows you to get your ideal temperature before getting in the shower. If there is something to improve on, the flooring is a little slippery.

Moving back to the main space of the room. It comes with plenty of space-saving quirks in the design. Rather than a wardrobe, they have hooks along the wall for your clothes and bags. There are also some portable stools that you can use to open up if you need some seating. I would love for them to provide some portable luggage racks too. The mirror is in the middle of the wall with a personalised welcome message. That is sweet!

Mounted on the wall is a large high-quality smart-screen television. The Smart TV comes with a good number of both local and international cable TV channels. It’s a good size for this room and great for movie nights. The television also supports casting capabilities from Android mobile devices.

Right next to the bathroom, you can find the minibar corner with a small empty fridge. There is also a kettle, packaged tea and coffee.

The queen-sized bed is perfect for two. There is no space in the room for an extra bed. The bedding and pillows were comfortable. I love that is it on the firmer side and slept well. On one side of the bed, there is a nightstand and on the other side, it is the table. Power outlets and controls for the lighting are found within reach. There is also a retro-looking phone here. That adds a lot of flair to the place.

The desk offers a good spot for some items. I love that it comes with compartments for additional storage. Similarly, power outlets are available here. The Wi-Fi connection in the room is very strong and makes the room a decent set-up to get some work done. With that being said, you can use the communal space too.

The room comes with a rather spectacular unblocked view of the surrounding area and the platinum area. It is nice with how high up we are.

Communal Space

The hotel idea here is to have plenty of communal space and a common area for guests to enjoy and have fun. There are plenty of spots around the lobby area for guests to lounge. You can find some small toys and games offered here. For those who want to work out a little before your next food spot in Bangkok, you can also hit up the Foosball Table, Air Hockey and Snooker Table with your friends and family. I had a little bet with my partner about the games after dinner.

The hotel also has a very cosy outdoor terrace area. This is a good spot to chill and even work on your laptop. I feel like it is a space with lots of potential. The hotel can run events and parties here during the occasion. A sunset BBQ sounds perfect here!

Ironing Room

Rooms over here at the Moxy do not automatically come with an ironing kit. Guests are instead asked to pop by the ironing room on the 9th floor if they are required to get any ironing done. If you need an iron in the room for prolonged ironing, you can request for it to be set up in your room.

Fitness Center

The fitness centre is at the far end of the lobby on level 9. It is open 24 hours. You can simply enter with your room keys. The space is lovely and comes with a great view of the surrounding area. I love how bright the place is with the amount of natural light. Water and towels are provided. There are all sorts of equipment and even a boxing punching bag.

Moxy Bar & Restaurant

I had the chance to enjoy dinner at the hotel during my stay. The restaurant is just beside the lobby area. They offer both local dishes and international choices. Some of the items are fusion as well. You can check out the menus here.

We started with some drinks and the cocktails are very Instagram-worthy and fancy. We tried the Naughty Candy and Blazing Island! The latter was my favourite.

For those who do not take alcohol, their fruit smoothies were solid. I love the Ping Me!

We got a couple of dishes to share among us. Here are some pictures of the food we ordered!

Breakfast

Breakfast is served at the hotel restaurant from 6.30am to 10.30am. You can find the restaurant on level 9 just beside the bar and reception area. If it is not included in your rate, breakfast will cost 399 THB per person. Breakfast is served buffet style and is quite a spread. There are both local Thai dishes and western items. I love that they have designed the food area after traditional street food carts. I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

You can also order eggs and noodles cooked to your liking. These can be done through the slips on the table. The staff will then serve them to your table.

The staff are polished and readily go around to clear dishes. They also come around to offer the local speciality of the day to guests. I tried the Thai-style pulled pork which was quite good.

The pancakes and waffles were lovely. Check out how cute they are! I am sure the kids and little ones will love this.

Conclusion

The location is this property’s strongest point! In my opinion, it is the best. This is especially true for Singaporeans. You are in the core Sukhumvit area with easy access to well-built walkways that can take you to MBK, Siam, Erawan, Central and Platinum. Big C Hypermarket is just next door. Frequent travellers will know how bad the traffic is here in the city. Getting to escape the traffic and travel on foot is very ideal. The BTS is also an easy 10-minute stroll away if you need to get out somewhere further. This new hotel makes it very attractive. I love the quirky vibes and how energetic the place feels. It is a solid option for Marriott members. I got a lollipop treat as a farewell gift during checkout. Check this out if you are here in Bangkok
