This is a rather unique contract lounge! If I remember correctly, it is the only contract lounge in Chongqing Airport Terminal 3. Most airlines use it for their premium customers. There are also some other forms of entrance but I am not too sure about it. The main contract lounge program like Priority Pass is not offering this lounge. I was rather surprised not to see any Star Alliance Lounge available for guests to use here. There is an Air China lounge here but it closes at 10pm. Let’s see what the International First and Business Class Lounge is like. I don’t have many expectations of such lounges, especially when it stresses so much on First and Business.

Access Requirements

The International First and Business Lounge is open daily till 3.30am. This should cover virtually all flights departing from Chongqing Airport. This seems to be a contract lounge that most airlines use for their premium customers. Singapore Airlines uses this for their passengers too. Currently, all premium cabin customers, KrisFlyer Elite Gold, PPS Club and Star Alliance Status holders are allowed access to the lounge when flying with SQ. Typical access rules for guests follow. I got access on account of flying in Business Class.

Arrival & Location

The lounge is located in the international departures area of Terminal 3. You can find it opposite gate H05. There are clear signs leading to the lounge. It was quite busy here with a couple of departing flights despite the late hour. It is a stark contrast to how empty the rest of the terminal is. This is the only lounge and it is used by multiple airlines. I was helped by the receptionist and entered after scanning my boarding pass.

International First and Business Class Lounge Chongqing

The lounge is quite nice and spacious. The decor is modern and the ambience is rather lovely. It is in an oval configuration. The ambience is quite nice for relaxing and waiting for your flight. The first room is also the main dining area. You can find some couches and dining tables at the side. I love that the place is not overly packed with seating and there are generous spaces between the seating. Here are some pictures of the space.

Some TVs are showcasing the Euros that were on at the time of my visit. I appreciate that they were kept silent. Branching out from the lounge, you can find other seating areas and spaces. There is a massage room, TV room, business centre and another lounging area.

This spot is even quieter so this will be a much more preferred spot for relaxing if you are done eating.

The lounge doesn’t come with any Wi-fi but it will also be a moot point if it comes with given the firewall in China. The lack of easily accessible power outlets does make it rather inconvenient.

Toilets and Showers

The showers are under renovation at the point of my visit. I would love to get a shower before my 2am flight if it is possible. That will be handy. I did check out the toilets which are unmemorable but well maintained. Nothing too fancy here.

Food and Drinks

This is the most disappointing expect of the lounge. At the time of my arrival, there isn’t any food available besides a dumpling live station. They had two types of filling. I prefer the one with cabbage. The dumplings were simply boiled. It took quite some time for them to be ready as they were boiled to order.

You also have an assortment of cup noodles and packaged snacks. This isn’t a good sign for an airline’s premium customers. The lounge has a buffet line but the timings are very regulated. Breakfast is available from 6.30am to 9am, lunch from 11.30am to 2pm and dinner from 5.30pm to 8pm. That seems early for a lounge that is open till 3.30am.

Drinks-wise is much better! They have a huge spread of non-alcoholic drinks and bottled water. There are also some canned beers, wines and spirits.

Conclusion

First Class and Business Class is a stretch! Don’t ever trust Lounge when they stress this so much, It is quite a nice contract lounge and above average from the decor and the drinks. I did not get to fully try their food since it was not available at the point of my visit. I feel that 8pm is too early to stop the main food service especially when they have contracts with airlines for their customers that are using the lounge in the late hours. The dumplings can’t cut it. While I won’t come early just for this, the lounge is a comfortable spot to wait for your flights with drinks. Very surprised not to see this lounge on the Priority Pass list.
