After spending the last two days in the city itself, we went on a little road trip around Hokkaido towards the western and northern parts of the island. We check out Otaru, Lake Toya and Noboribetsu. I rented a car with Sixt and the rates were very affordable. For our two-day trip, we got the base-level vehicle with full insurance and the toll pass for only 191 SGD. It would be even cheaper without full insurance. Petrol is very affordable in this part of the world. There are plenty more things to do in the area and I wish that I had catered more time for it. We were kinda limited by the subpar weather and our time in Hokkaido itself. Come check it out with me!

Conclusion

We had some of the best times of our lives on this day trip. We enjoyed it. I did wish that we had more time and I can’t wait to be back to plan an even bigger road trip around Hokkaido. We barely cover the island itself. Driving around Hokkaido is very easy and I felt like the speed limit was too low. All of the locals are going faster than us. I love Lake Toya and Noboribetsu is a very special place to visit. If you know you know! Next up, back to the mainland.
