I had the opportunity to check out the Qantas Domestic Business Class Lounge in Perth when travelling from Perth to Sydney. I have heard numerous good things about the Perth Lounge. This can be said to be one of the newest among the domestic Qantas lounges network. They are closest looking to the international ones. The lounge is designed by renowned Australian architect, Woods Bagot. The lounge is located in Terminal 4 where Qantas domestic flights depart from. This is a great facility for passengers flying from coast to coast or a red eye. Eligible travellers can waltz straight through when travelling domestically on Qantas or Jetstar. There are five Domestic Business Lounges. They are in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Canberra. These are usually a step above the Qantas Club with better food and drink options.

Access Requirements

The Qantas Domestic Business Lounge is open daily from one hour before each Qantas-operated service until the last Qantas departure. You can access this lounge when flying on Jetstar or Qantas domestically. You get access if you are in Domestic Business Class on Qantas or connecting from international Business / First Class, even if the domestic leg is in Economy (one guest). Qantas Platinum and Platinum One status holders are allowed access with 2 guests. Airline partner frequent flyer status holders such as Oneworld Emerald, Emirates Platinum Skywards and China Eastern Miles Platinum are allowed access with 1 guest. Depending on demand, the Qantas Club might be closed. Guests with access to Qantas Club will be invited to this facility instead.

Arrival & Location

The lounge is just adjacent to Gate 15. You will find signs leading to the lounge after clearing security. I was warmly welcomed after presenting my boarding pass. Perth terminal 4 isn’t very big and you can find it easily. It is just next to the lounge that my flight to Sydney will be departing from.

Qantas Domestic Business Lounge Perth

Upon entering, you can find a whole stretch of seating. The lounge couches are arranged in groups and along the wall. Some of the seats come with access to power sockets. I love Qantas furniture. The seats are very comfortable and plush. I love the overall design of the place with warm lighting and cosy vibes. The lounge was rather busy on the night of my visit since there were flight delays and the closure of Qantas Club. Heading in, you can also find some high tables at the side. Here are some pictures of the lounge.

They have a meeting room for guest usage on a first come first serve basis.

Complimentary wifi is provided for guest usage. The connection is very good. The communal tables near the refreshment area are great for big groups or just a quick bite. In the middle of the lounge, you can find a coffee bar. I will share more on the food and drinks later on.

Heading to the inner part of the lounge, nearer to the bar, you can find dining tables that are more suitable for dining. The lounge is spacious and fitting for the traffic that this lounge sees.

The lounge comes with toilets and showers. The toilets are clean and well-maintained. They are stocked with Li’Tya amenities. I certainly took advantage of this and got a much-needed shower before my flight to the city after a long day out.

They have a total of four shower suites, all on a first come first serve basis. This will come in handy for people before their red eye. The shower suites are spacious and come stocked with towels and amenities from Li’Tya in large pump-size bottles. A hairdryer is available upon request from the front desk. The standing shower area is spacious with a rainforest shower head. Water pressure and temperature control are excellent.

Food & Drinks

The main food refreshment area is in the centre of the lounge. They were doing supper service when I visited. They have some Potato and leek Soup, Mixed Bean Salad and Sandwiches available.

The highlight of the lounge is the signature Pizza Bar. This is the speciality of Perth Lounge. Every domestic lounge has a signature item. The freshly baked pizzas are amazing and delish. These are super popular but the staff are good with top-ups.

img_5801

They were having roasted pumpkin, sage and pine nuts as well as pizza with pork sausages, rocket and mozzarella. These smelled heavenly and even better when I ate them. Perfect with a pint of beer.

img_5808

The bar contains the main drinks selection. This is where you can get both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The staff are on hand to help you with the huge selection of beers, ciders, spirits and wines. The bartender can also whip up drinks with simple mixers. I count a total of 13 different beers. Little Creatures is available here too.

I am glad to see that barista-made coffee drinks are available all day long. This is something that I cherish. Coffee drink quality and standards are maintained. None of those instant machine crap is offered here.

I did wish that they had some additional drink counters around the lounge to prevent crowding in the bar area. This can certainly be done for non-alcoholic drinks rather than all being at the bar. This will be handy if you need a refill or top-up.

Conclusion

I enjoyed the Qantas Domestic Business Class Lounge. It is a great facility. This is handy before your flight and for those on the red eye to grab a quick shower. A coast-to-coast flight like Perth to Sydney is almost 4 hours long. The food and drinks are impressive. I particularly love the freshly baked pizza. Hot pizza with unlimited Little Creature on tap? The soft music in the background makes the place a very nice environment to wait for your flight.
