There are two contract lounges in Taipei Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 2. Both of them can be accessed with Priority Pass. I have just recently shared about my visit to the Oriental Club Lounge earlier. This is the other lounge in Terminal 2. We recently welcome the return of Plaza Premium Lounges to the network and I took the chance to visit it during my flight back to Singapore. This is the more popular one and is crowded. It seems that some airlines are also sending their premium cabin customers here.

Access Requirements

The Plaza Premium Lounge is open from 5am to 11pm daily and available to Priority Pass members. I usually use my unlimited Priority Pass from Citi Prestige or UOB Reserve. You should be able to enter using Lounge Key as well or other contract lounge membership as well. You are limited to a 2 hours stay here.

Arrival & Location

The lounge is located on one level above the main terminal. You can easily find signs for the lounge and you can see it easily after the escalators. It took me less than 10 mins to clear both security and immigration. All of the lounges in the terminal are located here. It is in the same spot as the food court. I was warmly welcomed after presenting my boarding pass and Priority Pass card.

Plaza Premium Lounge Taipei Taoyuan Airport Terminal 2

The lounge is not overly huge and has an open-concept entrance. Upon entering, you can see a bar counter cum entrance where staff are on hand if you need to purchase anything or book a private suite. By the entrance, there are also some large communal tables and sofa seats. This is quite a lovely spot and my favourite. It is just that the seats lack power outlets and you are quite exposed to the terminal. Right after entering, you will enter the dining and refreshment area. There are plenty of dining tables here. Here you can find plenty of dining tables in groups of 2 or more. It is almost the same size as the lounging area. I will share more on this later on. The lounge is super crowded and it felt uncomfortable. As you enter the inner parts of the lounge you can find the usual Plaza Premium kind of seating. There are also some private lounges here if you want at an extra cost. The main seats are in rows and they are quite near to one another. It also feels awkward as you face the person right opposite you. Power plugs and wifi are available here. One good thing about the lounge is the air conditioning. It is much cooler over here in the lounge as compared to the terminal. It was very much needed in this weather.

Toilets and Showers

The lounge has its toilets and showers over here so that’s a good thing to have especially right before a long-haul flight to America. The toiletries are unmemorable but it is always nice to have access to such facilities when they are usually more well-maintained than the terminal ones in most parts of the world.

Food and Drinks

The main buffet line is located right after entering the lounge. This is one of the most crowded of the lounge. You can find a live station here with food made to order. You can find the menu here. I tried one of the noodles and it was really good. It tasted authentic. The portion isn’t too huge so you can try more than one dish. You also have a small buffet line consisting of a salad bar and cheese, some soup, chicken and sweet & sour fish. There is also some pasta and rice. Drinks-wise there are soft drinks and tea packages in the fridge. There are some wines and also Taiwan draft beer on offer.

Conclusion

The lounge is pretty decent and standard for Plaza Premium. The decor and seats are more or less the same. This goes for the refreshment as well. I always feel that the Plaza Premium concept focuses more on the food rather than the drinks. The lounge is packed and demand is so high. They have another facility nearby that is not operating. I very much prefer the Oriental Club Lounge which is far more spacious and comfortable. It is always nice to have access to a contract lounge at airports. It makes sense to invest in a Priority Pass to avoid paying for overpriced food and drinks in airports. This is not one lounge that OI will come early for.
