I spend the last night of my trip at Ascott Embassy Sathorn. This is the 3rd ASR property that I will be visiting in the city. It has a similar concept to Ascott Thonglor which I have just reviewed. Many thanks to ASR Thailand for inviting me here. The aparthotel is in the Sathorn area. It is slightly away from the core Sukhumvit district where tourists usually stay. This is a good base to tour the area around the river such as Icon Siam, attractions and for making the trek to Yaowarat. The hotel is near the BTS and MRT which will allow you to visit these places easily. Ascott Embassy Sathorn is even newer than the Thonglor sister property. It only open back in Aug 2022. Fun fact, the hotel is steps away from the Singapore Embassy! Follow me in checking them out!
Booking Process & Pre Arrival
The Ascott Embassy Sathorn is in the Bang Rak and Sathorn areas. You are not too far out from the core Siam area which is easily accessible via the BTS. The location is very convenient with the nearby MRT and BTS stations and you have direct access with the shuttle service. Traffic isn’t that bad over here as well. Seeing The World In Steps stayed as a guest of Ascott Embassy Sathorn. I was booked into their One Bedroom Premier. Do check out their rates directly as they are currently running some promotions with up to 30% off. They go for around 159 SGD a night. The Ascott Embassy Sathorn features 393 fully furnished apartments from rooms up to three bedrooms apartments. The large apartments will be suitable for bigger groups and families. Checking In
I took a ride over from Ascott Thonglor where I was staying earlier. It cost less than 100 THB and took around 15 mins. Getting a ride is a challenge. I was at the hotel at around 10.30am. Upon arrival, I was immediately helped by the staff with my bags and ushered over to the reception. Despite the early hour, it was pretty busy. The lobby is cosy and on the smaller side with some seating. Here are some pictures of the place.
I was warmly welcomed and offered a welcome drink made with local Thai herbs. It was refreshing. My room was ready despite the early hour and I waited for a short while as housekeeping does the finishing touches. I took the opportunity to explore the grounds.
The hotel runs a shuttle service from 7am to 11pm. Depending on the time of the day, they take a different route. The shuttle takes you to the MRT and BTS station. You can find the route here.
It is only on a drop-off basis. How cute is the shuttle? It is like a posh fancy tuk-tuk. So lovely to scoot around the city in this. It is the same type of vehicle as the one at Ascott Thonglor.
One Bedroom Premier
I was assigned a One Bedroom Premier on level 24. Apartment 2411 is located in the corner and spans a generous 65 Sqm. It kinda feels larger than this! Perhaps the decor and layout make it even more spacious. The apartment comes with a king-size bed and separate living and dining areas. You also have a fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities that will make long-term stays a breeze.
Upon entering, I have the entire view of the spacious living room and kitchen area. I love the high ceilings and warm lighting that make the place so gorgeous! How chic is this? To the side of the entrance, you can also find a connecting door to the adjacent room if you require this to be a two-bedroom apartment. You have a fully stocked kitchenette with everything that you may require. This includes a coffee machine, kettle, bread toaster, oven and microwave. You can also find all sorts of cutleries, glassware, tableware, pots and pans. The electric hob allows you to fix up your meal. In addition, you can also find a washer and dryer here.
On the left are some additional cabinets that you can use to store items. There is also a luggage stand here.
Heading in, we enter the super lovely living area. This is my favourite part of the suite. Aren’t the setup lovely? How cosy is this! It is pretty spacious as well. The space will be so great for gatherings and parties. I love the residential vibes. The large marble table with four dining chairs. In reality, this could comfortably fit six people. Left on the table was a generous welcome amenity consisting of some whole coconuts, fruits and other drinks.
Then you have a huge sofa that could fit five people comfortably. It surrounds a coffee table. The large high-quality Smart TV is mounted on the wall. It comes with both local and international channels. It comes with a lovely view of the surrounding area. The sunsets are amazing!
The bedroom is separated by an actual door. It is desirable to have a fully enclosed space. This will come in handy when you are getting some work done and to prevent disturbing your other half or family.
The bathroom can be found immediately to the right after entering the bedroom area. It is not overly spacious but still a pretty good size. It comes with a single sink and plenty of counter space. All sorts of amenities are provided and as usual in ASR properties, they are from APPELLES. This Australian brand focus on botanical scents.
The separate bathtub and standing shower are behind a full glass screen, kind of like those Japanese configurations. I love this setup as it allows you to get from the tub to the shower without water getting all over the place. I do feel that the tub is on the smaller side. It is a little disappointing that they did not fully utilise the space here. There is some leftover buffer on the left and right of the tub. It is worth mentioning that they had a bath pillow installed. The standing shower is spacious and comes with both a handheld shower head as well as a rainforest shower head. Water pressure and temperature controls are excellent. The bathroom comes with a view of the surrounding as well. Blinds are available for those who prefer more privacy.
Heading into the main bedroom area, along the wall, you can find two spacious wardrobes with all that you might require for your stay. The luggage rack is next to it and could fit a small cabin-size suitcase.
A platform sorts of extends along the wall. This also acts as the working desk in the room. Outlets are within reach and the wifi connection is strong. I do wish that they have more than one outlet as I had to unplug the lamp plug to use it for my laptop and the hairdryer.
The bedroom is single-handedly my favourite part of the apartment. It is slightly cursive and you have a great view of the surrounding area from the curve window panels. You have almost a 100° vision span. How gorgeous is this! In the evening, the sunset views are amazing.
The large king-size bed takes up most of the space in the room. I appreciate that it is on the firmer side. I had a good rest. I requested some additional memory foam pillows which were delightful and offers amazing neck support. On both sides of the bed, you can find nightstands and controls for the lighting. Outlets are available on both sides. I do wish that they had electronic controls for the curtains and sheers. That will be so amazing with this view!
In the middle of the bedroom and right in front of the window you can find a television on a chest. It is kind of an island concept. I do love the design as it allows you to have a decent size TV for the room but does not overly obscure the view here. It comes with a good number of local and cable TV channels.
Residents’ Lounge
The residents’ lounge is the perfect venue, whether you want to relax over a drink or discuss business. I am loving this concept at ASR properties. It is like an executive lounge but for all guests to use. It is always lovely to have additional space other than your room itself. This will come in handy be it for a short business meeting or to work from. It is open from 6am to 10pm and is located on level 9.
The lounge is right next to the pool and is huge. It has plenty of seating around the bar in the middle. The high ceilings make the place very welcoming. In contrast to the situation at Ascott Thonglor, complimentary drinks are not offered to guests. They have a small drinks menu. The prices are pretty reasonable. You can find a children’s playroom in the lounge as well.
Fitness Centre
The fitness centre is located on level 9M. It is open 24 hours but after 10pm you will have to get a member of the staff to unlock the gym for you. The gym is spacious and comes with a good view of the city. There is plenty of equipment in the gym. You even have a view of the pool below. I do feel that it is a little spare. Great place if they run some events or classes on the weekends or guests can simply use it for some Yoga or so.
Pool
The pool is one of the highlights of the property. I love the infinity edge design which gives you the feeling of being right in the heart of the neighbourhood. The place gets plenty of sun and the loungers are great to work up a tan. The pool is open daily from 6am to 10pm. Check out how gorgeous this is! The regular size makes it easy to get some laps in as well. I love the view of the buzzing Bangkok Metropolitan.
Besides the main pool, you also have a smaller wading pool for the little ones. The lounge is right next to the pool and you can order drinks by the poolside if you fancy a drink or so. In the changing room, you can find a sauna that is open from 6am to 10pm.
Breakfast at Residents’ Lounge
Breakfast is served at the Resident’s Lounge from 6.30am to 10.30am. This is a temporary solution while the restaurant is a work in progress. They are planning to open up the restaurant on the top floor by the end of the year. Let me share some pictures of the breakfast offering. It is not overly huge but comes with most of the items that you might need.
Some of the standout items are the freshly cooked eggs and the noodle station. I love the pork noodles and went for seconds. Having a piping hot bowl of comforting noodles is a great way to start your day. The broth is light and excellent. I would be keen to see what the actual breakfast will be like when the restaurant is up.
Conclusion
The One Bedroom Premier apartment is such a joy to stay in. I love how spacious the place is. The perfect choice if you are coming over to Bangkok with friends and family. The Sathorn area is something quite new and refreshing for me. It is worth considering if you want something out of the usual Sukhumvit area that tourists flocks to at the first instance. It will be a good base for exploring the surrounding areas, Chao Phraya River, Icon Siam and Chinatown. I will love for them to improve on areas like the bathtub and drinks by the lounge. That is something that Ascott Thonglor is better at. Breakfast can be improved as well.
