There are also numerous Star Alliance lounges in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport besides the main Thai Airways flagship Orchid Lounge. Star Alliance members sure get it good over here. With Star Gold Status or a premium cabin ticket, you can go on a lounge hop over here. My current SOP is to go to the SKL then a massage at Turkish before a visit to the Thai Airways lounge if I have the time. Lounges are a huge thing here in BKK as the traffic and airport queues are horrendous. Passengers are advised to arrive at the earliest time possible. I finally found the time to visit this EVA Air Lounge. I am curious to see what it will be like. I am going to check out more SKL and Star Alliance Lounge worldwide while I have my KF Gold status.

Access Requirements

EVA Air Lounge is open daily from 6 am to 2.30am. With these times, you should be able to access the lounge regardless of which Star Alliance flight you take. Currently, all Star Alliance Group First Class, Business Class and Star Alliance Gold Members holders are allowed access to the lounge. BR Royal Laurel / Premium Laurel / Business Class and BR Infinity MileageLands – Silver/Gold/Diamond card members can access the lounge too. This is a standard Star Alliance lounge. Typical access rules for guests follow. I access it with my Krisflyer Flyer Elite Gold status.

Arrival & Location

The lounge is located on the main departure floor in area F. There are clear signs are showing the lounge and you can find it easily. Simply walk past the Turkish Airlines Lounge and head further. They have a very classy entrance. I was warmly greeted by the lounge attendant when I entered. I got here in the evening and this seems to be a rather lull period in the lounge. It was close to empty when I was here.

EVA Air Lounge Bangkok

This is my second time ever in an EVA Air Lounge. I visited their flagship Taipei lounge last year and it was really lackluster. Let me give a brief introduction to this place. The decor is very cool and dark with plenty of dark tones. It is not something that I would like as it feels like a nightclub. Right near the entrance, you have a business centre with a couple of computers and printers.

Next to it are some sleeping pods with massage chairs or recliners. There are only two of them.

Moving on, you can find additional sitting areas which mainly consist of typical lounge couches and seating areas. The rest of the lounge is filled with more couches. Here are some pictures of the seating. Wifi is available and the connection is good.

The lounge comes with toilets and showers. This is probably the only aspect that is better than the rest. The toilets are well-maintained and clean. They are also equipped with L’OCCITANE products which is lovely.

The showers are available upon request and it is all on a first come first serve basis. Simply approach the staff if you want to use it. I didn’t manage to get a look at it.

Food & Drinks

The main food and drinks area is found towards the right side of the lounge. Everything is self-service here. This includes both the food and the drinks. For hot food, there are some beef noodles, pad thai, curry chicken and fried noodles. They also have some spicy shrimp soup or tom yum.

Besides this, there are also some pastries and packaged snacks. Here there are some fresh whole coconuts, mango sticky rice, juice, cut fruits, sandwiches and a salad station.

Moving on to the drinks. You can find a selection of soft drinks, juices and yoghurts. Alcoholic options consist of self-serve spirits and wines. They have a sparkling wine on offer.

There are also ice cream available.

Conclusion

I am not sure about this lounge. It is pretty decent and standard. There is nothing attractive about this place that will make a guest want to visit. BKK is a Star Alliance hub and there is already an amazing flagship lounge of Thai Airways. The SilverKris Lounge also offers another premium option. Then you have the Turkish Lounge which offers complimentary massages. I have no idea why EVA wants to operate their facility here. The showers are probably  They are not going anything spectacular or memorable that they feel their premium airlines should get. This is the worst Star Alliance Lounge among the rest. It just got me thinking. They are not accepting Priority Pass either. Unless they improve the lounge, they should just close down and cut costs.
