Now let’s share about the standard Saphire Plaza Premium Lounge, which is open to everyone as long as you have a lounge program access or pay for access. I have no idea why this PP lounge is so special that it comes with a Saphire naming. I did not get it wrong, but it was Saphire rather than Sapphire. Perhaps it is a much more special Plaza Premium than its counterparts. There is also a Plaza Premium First Lounge inside the facility. You can pay an extra supplement to access it. This makes it a huge complex. There are like four different lounges inside the same complex, including the two SQ lounges.

Access Requirements

The Saphire Plaza Premium Lounge is open 24 hours a day. You can access this lounge via a lounge program membership, like Priority Pass. I have an unlimited Priority Pass through my UOB Reserve Card or by using my Citi Prestige Credit Card allowance to access the lounge. A normal entrance will cost 35 USD. Typical guest entitlements follow. If you would like to upgrade your access to the Plaza Premium First Lounge, this will cost an extra supplement of 471K IDR. Not like if there is any reason to do so, but if you are entering via the SQ route, you can also access this lounge since the SQ lounge is inside this lounge. As per the usual SQ rules, first class, business class passengers, KrisFlyer Elite Gold members, Star Alliance Gold members and PPS club members get access. Typical guesting rules apply. I got access with a first-class ticket. 

Arrival & Location

The lounge is located near gate 6. You will be able to find it easily, leading towards the gate. Simply look for the Saphire Plaza Premium Lounge signs. I have no idea why it is so special here with a Saphire. You have to show your boarding pass and lounge card to the staff at the Sapphire lounge. You will then enter the lounge before it branches out into the regular Plaza Premium Lounge or the Priority Pass First Lounge. Showers are located here as well, and as per the norm, they are not included in the regular entrance. This lounge does get really crowded, and it was packed full of people. This is a reason why Singapore Airlines wants to have its own space for its passengers. 

Saphire Plaza Premium Lounge

The lounge consists mainly of one entire big room, and it is very spacious with plenty of lounge couches and seating. This can fit more than a hundred pax. I do love the high ceilings, which make it more spacious and suitable for the heavy traffic. The entire space is wide open with no partition. The lounge is very beautiful and gorgeous with plenty of natural light. I can see this being sort of a Plaza Premium Plus or so. 

You have a kids’ playroom near the entrance. 

The rest of the spaces are fitted with sofas, and power outlets are located within reach. I am glad to see that the seating is not arranged too close together. Wi-Fi are readily available. There are more private seats along the windows. Nearer to the dining area are also low tables that are much more suitable for dining.

Toilets and Showers

There are toilets in the lounge. Showers are available for guests only with an additional charge. The facilities are not very well maintained, probably due to the heavy traffic. 

Food and Drinks

Coming to the food and drinks options, the selection is pretty good. There is a nice spread of hot items from Western choices to Asian local selections. They have a roasted chicken, nasi briyani, and Indonesian food. Besides this, there is also a live station where you can order various items prepared upon ordering. I will let the pictures do the rest of the speaking. 

For drinks, you have bottled water, can drinks, tea and a coffee machine.

Do note that there’s also a bar that you can order from with barista coffee.

Conclusion

This might just be one of the better ones out there and can be worth visiting. If you have a Priority Pass or an unlimited one, you have to visit it. I will rank it as one of the top Plaza Premium ones out there. It is something like a Plaza Premium Plus. The food options are solid. Alcoholic drink options can definitely be improved. Just take note that this place gets crowded.
