This lounge is only for business class and KrisFlyer Elite Gold members. PPS club members are included in a different lounge. The Araliya Lounge seems to be a contract lounge that most non-Oneworld airlines use for their premium passengers. The airline lounges are mainly operated by SriLankan Airlines and Emirates here. The airport here is pretty bare and simple. I am hopeful that the lounge is better than the terminal, which is pretty bare and simple. A lounge will definitely come in handy over here.
Access Requirements
The Araliya Lounge Colombo is open 24 hours a day. This seems to be a contract lounge that most airlines use for their premium customers. Singapore Airlines uses this for its passengers, too. Currently, all premium cabin customers, KrisFlyer Elite Gold and Star Alliance Status holders are allowed access to the lounge when flying with SQ. PPS Club members get access to the AASL Lotus Lounge. Typical access rules for guests follow. I got access on account of flying in Business Class.
Arrival & Location
The lounge is located right opposite gate 7; you will be able to spot it easily when in the area. Otherwise, you can’t really find many signs leading to the lounge. The lounge entrance is pretty modest with a small entrance. Right after entering, you can find the attendant desk.
Araliya Lounge Colombo
The entrance of the lounge lets you out in the middle of the lounge. The lounge stretches along the terminal, and it looks pretty new and modern. The place is well-maintained. It should be really nice during the day, too, since it comes with a nice view of the tarmac and the planes. Here are some pictures of the lounge. You can find some typical lounge couches arranged in groups. It is quite a comfortable space.
Wi-Fi is readily available in the lounge, and the connection is strong. There are also multiple power outlets located within reach. I love that the seating is segregated into various sitting areas to make it more private and cosy. The lounge also comes with a small business centre. There are two computers. There is also a little kids’ playroom with some toys and stuff for them to burn their time.
In the relaxation room, you can find some massage chairs for your use too.
Toilets and Showers
The lounge comes with its own toilets and showers. This might be handy for those flying on a red eye. They are simple but well-maintained. These are rather unmemorable but still better than the ones in the terminal.
Food and Drinks
Towards us, the first part of the lounge is where you can find the main refreshment area. It is where all the food and drinks can be found. There are two dining tables here that are much more suitable for dining, but in reality, you can dine everywhere.
Food-wise, it’s pretty meh in my opinion. It doesn’t look welcoming at all. You can find some pictures of the food selection over here. You will be better off dining elsewhere.
The drinks-wise is much better with a good selection of canned drinks. There are plenty of soft drinks, beers and wines. There is also a huge amount of spirits available for your enjoyment.
Conclusion
It is a rather standard contract lounge. It is definitely not one that you should come earlier for, but at the very least, it offers a comfortable space for you to relax and wait for your flight with decent drink options. Lounges can be really handy over here. The drinks are decent. Food-wise, it can definitely be improved.
