I have been wanting to check out this property for a long time. It is one of the newest in town and the location is fantastic. The pricing is very fair with the location near the city centre and close to Seminyak. This will be handy as the traffic is horrendous in Bali. By staying near the city centre you escape and save on precious time. You can even walk around. The hotel only opened back in December 2024. It was less than 6 months old when I stayed. I have also previously tried their sister hotel, Holiday Inn Express Sunset Road. It is always nice to stay at a new hotel! Let’s see how this voco is! I have always loved the vibrant theme of the brand.
Booking Process & Pre Arrival
I book directly with IHG using my Citi Prestige card. I got the base-level Guest room. My nightly rate was around 133 SGD including taxes. This was brought down by utilising my Citi Prestige 4th-night free benefit to 107 SGD. I have often found value in using the 4NF. It has been a long time since I last used this. I got the sundown package which includes breakfast and a welcome drink. This is handy since I no longer have Diamond status. I am just a lowly Gold tier now. This is one of the best travel cards in my opinion. I was extended an upgrade to one of the pool-view rooms ahead of the stay. voco Bali Seminyak features 160 guest rooms and suites spread across 3 categories. You can find the breakdown below.
| Rooms | Bathtub | Room Size | No.of Rooms |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deluxe | Yes | 35 Sqm | 46 |
| Deluxe Pool View | Yes | 35 Sqm | 109 |
| Suite | Yes | 70 Sqm | 5 |
Checking In
I got in at around 7.30pm. We exited the transit area pretty fast since we only had cabin bags. I also pre-arranged an airport transfer with Trip.com. This is the best way to avoid the touts here at the airport. Traffic was decent by Bali standards but still bad. It was around a 40-minute drive. I got to the hotel at 9pm. Despite the late hour, the place still looks so welcoming and new. I love the lighting and the voco colours.
We were promptly helped by the night shift staff who processed our check-in quickly. My late checkout was extended till 5pm. They also provided a welcome benefit of 600 points. All other information was provided too. He even ushered me over to my room and gave me an introduction to the place.
Deluxe Pool View Room
I was assigned a room on the fifth floor. I got room 511 to be exact. It is a short walk away from the elevators. Note that the odd-numbered rooms are located on one side of the building, while the even-numbered rooms are on the other side. Immediately upon entering, you can see how vibrant the place is. The bright striking colours hit you immediately. It is so welcoming to see such fresh bright colours. I love that everything is still in top top condition.
Right next to the entrance, you have a cabinet right next to the door. This also comes with a full-length mirror that allows you to check out your fit. There is a safe and an ironing kit here—plenty of storage space. The spacious luggage rack and open concept wardrobe are of a good size and you can fit any size of luggage here.
The minibar area is right next. It does feel slightly sparse. I would have expected them to have a proper coffee machine here. You can only find some packaged tea and coffee. Drinking water is in refillable glass bottles and refilled daily. Below is also a mini fridge that is left empty for your use.
On the other side of the entrance, you can find the bathroom. It is very nice and on the spacious side. I love the yellow look. It felt so cute and offered plenty of energy. The bathroom comes with a single sink and plenty of platform space. All sorts of amenities are provided. I can’t say that I am a huge fan of the toiletries that they are using here.
The bathroom comes with both a standing shower as well as a freestanding bathtub. The tub is super huge and allows for a couple to soak. The glass door fully enclosed the standing shower. The water pressure and temperature can be improved though. They were not very stable.
Back to the main space of the room. I love how they combine the pastel colour with the yellow and blue finishing. Along the wall, you can find the dining table and working desk stretching throughout. This will be a great spot for getting some work done if you require so or have some small meals in the room. The chair offers decent back support. Wi-Fi connection is also very strong and stable in the room. At the far end, there is another chair in the room. It does feel quite out of place.
The High-quality screen television is mounted on the wall. It comes with a good number of both local and international cable TV channels. The quality is pretty good. I do wish that they had supported AirPlay. It is also slightly on the smaller side. Left on the table is a welcome letter and some fruit.
The centrepiece, and the highlight of the room belongs to the plush king-size bed. It is very comfortable. The quality of the sheets can be improved though. Flanking both sides of the bed are nightstands which come with controls for the lighting and power outlets.
The room is pretty spacious for small families. You can probably add in an extra bed if you require too. My room was said to come with a pool view. To be very frank you can’t get much of it since we are on level 5. It simply faces the other building.
Fitness Center
The gym is located on the magazine floor. You can find it up the steps next to the elevator on the left. The space is nice and clean. It is on the smaller side and with a small amount of equipment. It comes with some treadmills, a lifting station, bikes and exercise balls. The facility is open 24 hours and you can access it anytime with your key cards.
Pool
The pool is located on the ground floor right beside the main restaurant. It is kind of between the two buildings. The pool is long enough for you to do laps. The pool is open from 6am to 6pm daily. I do have to say that with the design and layout of the place, I am not a fan of the place. The sun and daybeds are a necessity over here in Bali for the pool and neither are available here. This is such a bad design and an oversight by the hotel.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served at the hotel’s main restaurant from 6.30am to 10am daily. The timing does feel way too early, especially for a resort place. I got it as part of my rate. Everything is served buffet style and the staff are on hand to offer some fresh juices, coffee and tea. They have freshly squeezed orange and watermelon juice but there is no information about this anyway. Bacon and egg dishes are also prepared upon order. The selection is on the smaller side. I will let the pictures do the rest of the speaking.
I do have to say that the food is pretty good. The selection also changes from day to day. I won’t mind heading for it if you have it included but if you have to pay, Bali has tons of cafes out there.
Conclusion
I had a fantastic stay here. It is always nice to be staying somewhere so new that everything is in tip-top condition. The hotel location is fantastic and this is the best aspect of staying here. I highly recommend this property for all travellers, especially IHG elite members. I just wish that they could improve slightly on the breakfast. The pool area can also be improved. They do not attract me at all. I barely see anyone using it during my stay over here. I have nothing but good things to share about the staff here.
