I decided to take a one-night trip to Shenzhen during my trip to Hong Kong. Oh wow, it’s been a good 3 decades since my first trip here. Shenzhen was the first city that I visited in my life back when I was 3. I have ZERO memories of that. There are quite a few choices regarding where to stay in Shenzhen. I didn’t want to spend too much since I would be in and out of the hotel. I decided to go for this Hilton as the location is very good and near the main malls as well as the Futian train station where the high-speed trains depart from. Time is precious since I am only here for a night. I am unsure if it is a good spot for Shenzhen as this is technically the first time I am in the city. This should be the second-best property after Conrad.Â

Booking Process & Pre Arrival
I booked the base-level room at a business rate of 870 CNY a night. It is a little more than what I would love to pay but I figure the location of the hotel will be worth it. I reached out to get some information from the hotel staff to get some information and put in some room requests a couple of days out from the stay. I can also see from the app that they have nicely upgraded me to a one-bedroom suite. This is very nice and over the top for my short one-night stay. The suite would have cost around 1800 CNY a night. Hilton Shenzhen Futian comes with 320 guest rooms and suites spread across 8 categories. You can check out the breakdown below.Â

Checking In
I took the high-speed train over from Hong Kong which was a quick and fuss-free 15 minutes ride. It took longer for all the other process and waiting. This is quite an experience. Once in Shenzhen we got into a Didi for a quick ride to the hotel. The metro is also another options with it just 1 stop away. I got to the hotel at 1pm. The didi cost me just 23 CNY.Â
There wasn’t anyone to help us with our bags at the entrance. We were warmly assisted at the check-in desk which is straight ahead by the associate. The lobby is pretty grand and boosts some seating and the cafe at the side. I was provided with all the information and details. Check-in was very fast and prompt. They confirmed that I am being upgraded to a suite. Check in was very fast and prompt. Executive guests also enjoy 2 complimentary pressing per stay.Â
It is also very thoughtful of them to offer additional perks for elite members. They have a drinks menu where Diamond members can choose 3 additional drinks and 2 for Gold. You can find the choices here.Â
One Bedroom Suite
I was assigned suite 1428. This is the entry suite over here. It measures a spacious 75 Sqm. My suite was located at the end of the corridor. You know that you are in for a treat when you have an entrance like this. There is a spacious and wide entranceway. It even felt a little too empty.
Immediately to the left, you branch into the wardrobe room. The place is huge. This feels like a dressing room and closet area. It comes with plenty of storage space, hangers, and racks. There is a safe and an ironing kit. You can also find a huge storage area for your suitcases. There is even a vanity desk with a seat. This will be perfect to get some make-up or dressing done. They did miss out on having a power outlet which felt like basic for the hairdryer. The place looks a little bland in my opinion. You can fully close up the room with a sliding door.Â
Moving ahead to the main space of the suite, it is in a rectangular configuration. You have the TV console and minibar area in the centre of the suite which sort of creates a barrier between the bedroom and lounging are segregated and can be fully enclosed with another sliding door. The layout does feel rather weird to me. I would prefer for the suite to be more open and perhaps they could have a full-size sofa rather than just an armchair. Overall, the spot felt wasted and rather claustrophobic.Â
There is a spacious working desk here with an armchair that provides decent back support for short period of work. There are multiple power outlets and the Wi-Fi also works pretty well. Do note that the usual china restriction applies.Â
Back to the bedroom, it is spacious and comfortable. You can find a huge TV console with a high-quality smart screen television mounted on the wall. It does feel a little bit small for a suite of that size. It comes with a good number of both local and international cable TV channels. In the console, you can find a kettle as well as a Nespresso coffee machine. Capsules as well as a generous amount of bottled drinking water are provided. Below there is a mini fridge for your use.Â
The plush king-size bed is in the middle of the room. It is very comfortable and comes with plenty of pillows. The bedding and sheets were top-notch and high-quality. I also got an extra firmer pillow which I slept well on. Right in front of the bed, you can also find an ottoman that provides some additional sitting and storage spaces. Flanking both sides of the bed, you can find nightstands with controls for the lighting and power outlets.
The suite comes with a pretty nice view over the surrounding area. It wasn’t much but it was unblocked and makes up quite a view. By the side of the window, you can find a daybed, this will be perfect for reading a book, catching a view or perhaps just enjoying a cup of coffee or so.Â
The bathroom is huge. In fact a little too big and it feels empty. The place comes with double sinks and as per usual, you have Crabtree and Evelyn amenities. All sorts of other amenities are provided. There is both a free-standing bathtub and a standing shower. The shower comes with both a rainforest shower head and a handheld one. The water pressure is excellent and the same goes for temperature control.Â
Swimming Pool
The swimming pool is open daily from 7am to 10pm. It is located on the 6th floor. The pool is outdoor and not temperature-controlled. It was rather empty since the weather was still a little too chilly to use it. It would be nice if it is heated and can be used round the year.Â
Fitness Centre
The gym is similarly located on the 6th floor. It is open 24 hours daily. This place was packed and a contrast to the pool. They had the usual equipment and even a pilates room. It is handy if you want to get a workout during your stay. I didn’t really get a photo of the place as it was crowded. Â
Executive Lounge
The executive lounge is open daily from 1pm to 10pm. It is located on the 20th floor with views of the Shenan avenue. They offer afternoon tea and evening cocktails. Eligible guests can enjoy breakfast at the restaurant instead. It is quite a nice space with spacious seating and they even have two floors which are connected by a staircase. The upper levels only consist of some seats.
I didn’t manage to spend much time over here since I was out most of the time. I did manage to pop by to take a quick look at the afternoon tea and dinner selections. It doesn’t look too inviting.Â

Conclusion
Sadly, I didn’t make it to breakfast as I had a late start to the day and was off to the train station immediately. I did enjoy my stay and the suite. It was spacious and comfortable. I did feel that the space could be utilised in the bathroom as well as the working desk area. The configuration ain’t my kind of thing. I do love the location of the hotel. It is easy to get to most places and malls. The subway station is also right outside the hotel and one stop is all it takes to the Futian high-speed train station. This is quite a short stay. The price is right for what you get. I would love to come back for a longer stay. Hopefully, I will get to check out the breakfast next time.
