KKday is one of the one-stop platforms that ease travellers with planning their free and easy trip. It also acts as an Online Travel Agency where you can book hotels, attractions, transport and even SIM cards. You can search on their website to see what products they have available in the city that you are visiting. I have had good experience booking airport transfers and some attractions with them. They are similar to Klook. It is always nice to compare and get the best deal. This time I am exploring KL with KKday. All I need for this trip will be planned by using KKday products.

Malaysia SIM Card

The basis and travelling 101. I don’t think that anyone can go without a SIM card or data when travelling these days. Besides fueling your distractions, you also need it for the basics like Google Maps and getting a ride with Grab. For those who prefer using a physical SIM, this is the one to go for. They are having a 20% sale right now. You can conveniently pick it up at the airport when you arrive. Show the QR code and your ID to the staff. Check out the various plans here. You can then present the QR code which you get after booking. The staff will then help you with the registration. I check out the store location at KLIA 2 arrivals. You can find it easily after exiting arrivals. It is in a red colour kiosk right next to Subway. A good point for this would be the calling time which can come in handy if you need to call your hotel or to make dining reservations.

Malaysia eSIM

I prefer an eSIM over the above options. It is fuss-free and my recommended option if your device supports it. You can do everything online and ahead of time. With your Singapore SIM card still inserted, you have access to any SMS / Phone Calls which might be crucial for your banking needs. I hate changing my physical SIM card before and after my trip. You can download and remove it easily from your phone. Off the airport and you are all good to go with your plans.

I booked this on KKday and it was confirmed immediately. You will then receive the QR code via email which allows you to download the eSIM to your phone straight away. Usually, I will do it on the same day of travel to prevent early activation or anything. The cheapest plan cost just 0.67 SGD. This might come in handy for a JB day trip.

KL Airport Train

If you have been to KL, you will know how far out the airport is from the city and it can easily take up to 1 hour by road to and from the city centre. It is very affordable by road and will just cost you around 60 to 80 RM for a ride booked via Grab. But the long driving distance and unpredictable traffic make it less ideal. I am not a fan of being stuck in the car and losing precious travel time. Then it comes KLIA Exspres. Once I took this, I never went back to taking Grab again. The ability to get you to and from the city centre in 28 minutes is worth the premium. As long as you are not travelling solo, the train will be more expensive than a Grab.

To me, time is precious while travelling. The train works well for those who are staying near KL Sentral. You can also transfer to a short Grab ride from here. The train runs every 20 minutes or so. Upon purchase, you will receive the QR code tickets via email. You can then use it to board immediately. You can use the ticket for any time on the date. Check out the schedule for the train here.

The seats are comfy and take you into KL Sentral in comfort. There is also free wifi and plenty of luggage space available. If it is empty, you can also sit in the VIP rows. For those who want the monorail pass, the combination tickets will be a good bet. Check it out here.

DurianBB World

For those who are keen on the thorny fruit. This is your kind of thing! Everyone who knows about durian would know that Malaysia boasts the best durian in the world. The DurianBB World is a great spot to learn more about the fruit and try some of them in a comfortable environment. While I am not a hardcore fan, I do indulge in them now and then. You either love Durian to the fullest or you stay far away from it.

If you are keen to do something relevant, do get the DurianBB World ticket from KKday. It is cheaper and has an open-date ticket. You can just turn up and use the QR code voucher after purchasing. The location is conveniently located in Chinatown. This includes an entrance to the little museum and a Durian Tasting Platter.

You then get a platter showcasing 4 different types of durians. It is no surprise that we love the most prized variety. The renowned Mao Shan Wang. They are very thoughtful to provide us with wet wipes and gloves.

I also got another dessert to share among us. The signature soft serve ice cream. You can find the menu for the cafe over here.
