This is one of the last few remaining Hilton properties in Bangkok that I have not stayed before and checked out. I love this part of the city where it is nicely connected to the BTS station and the two huge malls, Emporium and EmQuartier. There is also a new shopping centre Emphere mins away. Furthermore, one of my favourite spa places in Bangkok, the Asia Herb Association is also just around the corner. The super handy UOB Infinite Lounge is also just here at EmQuartier. I have previously stayed at their sister property, the Doubletree just next to the Hilton. It offers an option for those who want the same location but slightly less lux. The main difference is the lack of an executive lounge at the DoubleTree.

Booking Process & Pre Arrival

I got some information prior from the hotel itself with regards to the transportation and the rooms. I booked directly from Hilton for this stay and will be staying here for 4 nights. This was rather last minute and by the time I made the booking, only the Deluxe Premium category was left. A few days after my arrival, I can see from the app that I have been upgraded to a Premium Executive Room. That is pretty nice elite treatment. Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok comes with 280 guest rooms and suites spread across 8 categories. You can check out the breakdown below.

Checking In

I got to the hotel only at around 4.30pm since I was at the Waldorf. It makes more sense to stay longer over there. Furthermore, we got hit by really bad traffic and a long wait for the ride. Always prep ahead over here. As we pulled up to the driveway, the bellboy came over to help us with our bags and usher us over to check-in. If you do not have huge bags, you can consider taking the BTS as the hotel is very nicely connected and just minutes away.

Immediately by the lobby, you can find some sitting areas and the reception is flushed to the right. There was no wait at this hour and I was immediately helped by a friendly associate who verified my status and thanked me for being a Diamond member. I was then escorted to the executive lounge to further complete the check-in procedure. I am usually not a fan of checking in at the lounge unless there is a long queue as this is just spending extra time. I was provided with all the information for breakfast and the lounge. They also preemptively offered me a late checkout at 2.30pm. The executive team is very polished and on point.

Premium Executive Room

This is the highest category room and I got one of the highest rooms in the hotel on the 24th floor. On my floor, there is a very small footprint with only 6 rooms. This will ensure a very quiet stay. The Premium Executive room measures a comfortable 37 Sqm and is well designed.

Immediately after entering, you can find a wardrobe to the right. It is well equipped with everything that you might require for the stay from ironing kit to plenty of hangers. There are also bathrobes, bath slippers and a safe. The luggage storage area next to it could probably fit a medium-sized suitcase nicely. I would appreciate it if they could have some extra portable stands for bigger luggage.

The minibar comes with a fully stocked mini fridge with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Drinking water is also provided alongside packaged tea and a kettle. It is disappointing not to see a proper coffee machine in the room but with an executive lounge here, I can just pop by for a brew or something if required.

On the other side is the bathroom and this is one of the nicest aspects of the room. It is spacious and comes with a see-through glass panel that opens up to the view of the room and the surrounding area. Privacy blinds are available and electronically controlled if required.

The bathroom comes with a single sink with all sorts of amenities provided. Toiletries are from Crabtree and Evelyn in large pump-size bottles, as per the usual here at Hilton Hotels. The bathroom comes with a separate standing shower and bathtub. I love that the bathtub and standing shower are located in the same room itself which makes it very easy to get over from the tub to the shower without getting water all over the place. The standing shower is huge and comes with a handheld shower head as well as a rainforest one. Water pressure and temperature are very good.

Moving on to the main space of the room itself which is in a rectangular layout, you can find the two twin-sized beds in the middle. I love that the mattress is on the firmer side and offers great back support. I slept quite well. The pillows were mushy but thankfully we could easily get additional ones upon request. In the middle is a nightstand. Power outlets and lighting controls are found within reach.

The TV is mounted on the wall facing the bed. It comes with a good number of both local and international cable TV channels.

The working desk and armchair provided decent back support for a short period of work. Power outlets and all sorts of plugs are nicely installed. The premium wifi works smoothly with a strong connection.

The room comes with a view of the surrounding area. It is nothing too magical. I do feel that the room is slightly far at night and could use more lighting.

Fitness Centre

Both the fitness centre and swimming pool are located on the 26th floor. This is the highest floor of the hotel. The gym is open 24 hours a day. It is quite a gorgeous place with plenty of natural light. The facility is housed in a glass room that allows you to take in the views of the surrounding area. This makes it very welcoming. Water and towels are provided. You can find all the usual equipment such as treadmills, lifting systems and weights.

Pool

Swimming pool operation hours are from 7am to 9pm daily. This is similarly located on the 26 floor. The hotel features an infinity pool. This is lovely and located just beside the gym. The place is quite nice to relax and soak in to enjoy the view of the surrounding area. You can find plenty of sunbeds and cabanas by the side of the pool available on a first come first serve basis. Great spot to work out or to soak up the rays for a tan.

Executive Lounge

Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok offers an exclusive access executive club lounge, located on the fourth floor. This is open to diamond members or guests staying in the executive room and above. The lounge is open daily from 6.30am to 8pm. It offers 3 services a day, breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails. Breakfast is offered from 6.30am to 10.30am, afternoon tea from 2pm to 4pm and evening cocktails from 5pm to 7pm. This is one of the nicest parts of the hotel. I love the chic decor and comfy seats. It is quite a cosy place and feels like a classy cocktail lounge or bar rather than a soulless executive lounge. Here are some pictures of the place.

There are multiple sofa seatings, dining tables, outdoor patio areas and even business rooms that you can use for meetings. The staff here are polished and polite. I am always well-treated and addressed by name. They also also very proactive in going around to clear tables and offering drinks. I didn’t manage to check out the afternoon tea during my stay since I am mostly out during this time.

Evening Cocktails is the highlight of the entire lounge. I was here a couple of times. This surprisingly stayed easy and it wasn’t too crowded. For drinks you can find some spirits, wines and beers on offer they also have a cocktail menu that showcases their signature cocktails.

I tried all three of them and they are excellent. Non-alcoholic drinks consist of juices and canned drinks in the fridge. You can also have coffee or tea.

The food selections change from day to day which is appreciated. There are usually 2 hot items and some soup. The cold items such as salad, cold cuts and cheese stay the same. On my first night, they had skewers, vegetables, tortilla wraps and tomato soup. On my second night, they had seafood stew and sliders.

This is one of my favourite lounges. They have decent drinks and food. It offers a nice place to work if you require a change of scenery. As a Diamond member, you can choose to either enjoy breakfast at the Executive Lounge on the 4th floor or at Scalini restaurant on the 2nd floor.

Breakfast at Scalini Restaurant

Breakfast is currently served from 6.30 am to 10.30am on weekdays and till 11am on weekends. This is super awesome timing, especially for a city hotel. I appreciate them extending it on weekends when business guests might have a later start to their day. Breakfast is buffet style. I had this before when I previously stayed at the DoubleTree, their sister hotel. I love that they had this status tag to reflect your status on your breakfast table. You are also accorded special tables or reserved tables for diamond members. Here are some pictures of the breakfast. I especially love the Suki station and fruits.

Conclusion

Solid hardware and friendly staff. The location is also great to base yourself in Bangkok. The Hilton is a solid option if you want to stay in this area. There are plenty of affordable dining spots here. It comes with great public transportation links to escape the terrible traffic. The rooms are decent for the price that you are paying. This is a solid 3rd option after Conrad and the Waldorf. I enjoyed the executive lounge knocking back a couple of drinks before heading out to get food at Yaowarat or a night market.
