I reviewed this particular lounge a long time ago back in 2017. I did not have fond memories of it. It was old and dated. I could not even get a slot to use the showers and had to hit up a nearby Priority Pass one. After a lull period during COVID, Singapore Airlines finally got to this lounge and gave it a much-needed makeover. This ends up being the newest and latest SilverKris Lounge in the network. I am very excited to visit it. It is very welcoming and an addition to the Asiana Airlines network of lounges in Seoul. The lounge is only a few months old. The lounge is conceptualised with giving a touch of Singapore away from your home. A surprise twist of event took me to Seoul and I took the opportunity to check out the lounge before my flight back to Singapore.

Access Requirements

The Seoul SilverKris Lounge is open daily from 6.15am to 11am, 1.45pm to 4.30pm and 8.45pm to 11.30pm. This is subject to changes, depending on the flight schedules. Currently, all Star Alliance premium cabin customers, KrisFlyer Elite Gold, PPS Club and Star Alliance Status holders are allowed access to the lounge. Typical access rules for guests follow. In contrast to the rules for lounges in Singapore, KrisFlyer Elite Gold and Star Alliance Gold members are accorded access even when flying in Economy Class. You are also only allowed to guest in guests on the same flight as yours.

Arrival & Location

The SilverKris Lounge is in Terminal 1 where Singapore Airlines departs from. The lounge is located one level above the main terminal near Gate 29. Use the escalator across from the Korean Traditional Culture Center to get to the 4th floor and you will spot it. I had about 2 hours to spend over here and the lounge was an absolute beauty. It is a huge change from the old facility. I love that there is a bridge or so to get over to the lounge. I was warmly welcomed at the entrance by the staff and entered after scanning my boarding pass.

Even before stepping in, I can already feel that this lounge is up my alley. You can find the entrance right after the sky bridge. I love the warm vibes and feel of the place. The main area of the lounge can be found to the right of the lounge. To the left is an overflow area. This is one of my favourite places in the lounge but seems to be rather underused since most would prefer to lounge in the main area. I love the centrepiece with numerous memorabilia that stirs up plenty of nostalgia. How cute are those!

The place is also set up like a local kopitiam. Check out those stools as well as the coffee and tea chart on the wall. Here you can find some small bites and drinks selections. There are some soft drinks, juices, toast and mini tea cakes. Everything looks so good and fresh. This spot is very quiet and exclusive. It might be a good choice if you want some privacy.

Towards the right side, you have a stretch of seating as you make your way towards the main space of the lounge. I love the long wooden panel with some wavy design. That makes the area very classy. You can find some sofa seats on the other side too. Power outlets are readily available and the Wi-Fi connection offered is good here too.

Check out the pictures of the lounge. How gorgeous is it! There are various types of seating from high-top tables to communal tables as well as lounge couches around the area. The lounge is designed with the bar being the centrepiece of the area.

Keeping in line with the Korean touches, there is also a beauty corner where they have some beauty devices left for guests’ usage. You can do your little spa while waiting for your flight. This is a good concept to have partnerships with some brands. I would love to see the day when Singapore Airlines has a spa in SKL

Those cubicle seatings are perfect for solo travellers. They offer a cosy spot for both working and dining. The seats look so plush.

Toilets and Showers

Showers and toilets have been drastically improved from the old lounge. The toilets are sparkling new and constantly maintained. The toilets are very basic but well-maintained. It is certainly welcoming to see that there are showers in the lounge. They have a total of 3 shower suites, each of them in individual rooms and all on a first come first serve basis.

These will come in handy before your flight especially if you are flying the red eye out.

Food and Drinks

Most of the food and drinks can be found in the main refreshment area at the main lounge. There is a fridge with all sorts of soft drinks and canned beers. This includes both Tiger Beer and local Korean options. There are also soft drinks, juices and milk.

By the side, there is a coffee machine but don’t grab your caffeine here. Instead, head to the bar where you can get a proper one made by a barista. How on earth do they have all-day barista coffee and yet the one in Singapore can’t have it?

The bar is the most gorgeous area of the lounge and the centrepiece. I love this spot and can see myself coming here sitting on one of the hightop seats and enjoying the drinks. The baristas are on hand to prep all sorts of cocktails.

You can find the menu here. They also have champagne on offer and are currently pouring Heidsieck & Co. Monopole.

I tried a couple of cocktails during my stay. The Singapore Sling look a little dodgy. I did love the Medoc that they are pouring.

I was rather impressed by the food selection that they had. It is served buffet style and they are all located in a corner and nicely displayed. How lovely is this? In the middle island, you have a salad station, bread, cakes, cold cuts, chef salads and fresh fruits.

The hot dishes are delicious! Everything looks so tasty. They have some spicy chicken, beef bulgogi and garlic prawns. All of them were delicious with the steamed rice. I kinda regret not having more as the inflight meals are rather bare for the red eye.

Conclusion

I dare say that currently, this is my favourite SKL in my network. It might not be as huge as the one in Singapore but this is very cosy. I love the decor and vibes. It is nice to have this in addition to the Asiana Airlines network of lounges in Seoul. Having access to this as a KrisFlyer Gold or Star Alliance Gold member is a delight. I visited this lounge years ago and it was very tiring. The lounge has since expanded and undergone a makeover. It looks gorgeous and the food offerings are solid. There is even a bar. It is the newest lounge in the network. I also lucked out with low occupancy and I could get some lovely pictures of the place. I should make an effort to check out more outstation SilverKris Lounge. After this, the one lounge that I am very keen to visit would be the Bangkok SKL.
