No. 24, Taiwan: Taipei

Welcome to Taipei I guess! I have been ridiculed, laughed at for having not been before to Taiwan despite being to so many places around the world. Now I can finally say that Seeing The World In Steps have finally been here. I do have to say that Taiwan was never ever on the top of my bucketlist, or even on it! Thankfully back last year while I had some time off and wanted to take a breather, right before I went back to being a student, Taiwan somewhat came back into the plan. Being the very first time in my 24 years of life, I am determined to go all out and this country bumpkin is determined to see all the must see. Especially seeing that I will probably not come back again!

No. 24, Taiwan: Shin Yeh Taipei 101

Although not bearing any Michelin Stars, Shin Yeh is one of the most try while you are in Taiwan. They are a local brand that is famed for serving up traditional Taiwanese Cuisine. It is a household name right over there. There are numerous outlet of Shin Yeh located throughout the island and in Taipei itself, however the most famous well-known one got to be the Taipei 101 outlet since it is located right up 85th Floor. This is definitely one of the highest restaurant that you can dine at in the world. At first, I was weighing up the options of whether to visit the Taipei 101 observation deck, seemingly since I am a first time visitor to Taipei. Pondering over it, I was thinking, rather than spending 600 TWD per person for a ticket up to the deck, I might as well just spend that on a meal itself. There comes Shin Yeh in mind.

No. 24, Taiwan: Day trip to Yeliu, Jiufen & Shifen

During my 5 days stay in Taipei, I also took the opportunity to check out some of the suburbs area nearby to Taipei, knowing that this could probably be the last time that I am heading to Taipei, I have to definitely check out all the sites since I am here. Similar to my time in Taichung previously, I hire a driver for the day trip. This is definitely the better plan since we are travelling in a party of 3 and with a car we could always chill off in the car from the sweating hot weather and then we do not have to wait for all the busses to get around, which runs infrequent, especially in the rural area. Furthermore, it will not be possible to hit all the places in a single day if you do not hire a car. If you need the contact you can find the details in my Taichung post.

No. 24, Taiwan: Ximending Airbnb

I knew that I would want to stay in the Ximending area during my stay in Taipei and after looking over at the hotel choices, nothing seems really interesting. Most of the chain hotels are also located out of this prime district, which makes me really wonder why is that so. Taiwan seems to be a hotspot for Airbnb, especially in the area of Taipei Main Station as well as Ximending. These are the two main spot for travellers to Taipei. Ximending is also known as the Times Square of Taiwan. It is never quiet and full of shops, restaurants and food. Ah Zhong Mian Xian is also right there in the area! I personally find booking an Airbnb extremely time-consuming since you always have to look through all the listing and then the reviews. These are really important since they could either make it or break you stay. Hopefully this will help with you.
