Apologies for the confusion, but despite the title makes it sound like I am still in NYC, this is actually the hotel that I am staying at in Las Vegas! Continuing on the previous post where I landed in Las Vegas McCarren International Airport, it was an efficient landing and in minutes after collection of my baggage I was whisked off to the offsite car rental centre to pick up my rental car. I will have a whole post on my experience with Sixt and driving in Las Vegas so hang on a while for that. Despite getting lost a bit and figuring out the unfamiliar roads, we stop off at Walmart to grab some supplies for our stay in Las Vegas before driving to the New York New York Hotel & Casino. The New York New York Hotel & Casino is located right in the strip and on the southern end of it. Of course, with any visitors to Vegas! I will definitely recommend to stay right in the Vegas. As with Vegas, you will want to be in the action of it!

Las Vegas is a haven, in fact in Nevada, Las Vegas is just like a shiny mirror right in the middle of nowhere, glamourous lights sparkling in the night and towering skyscrapers and casino hotels seen for afar in the day! Out of the strip. It is just sands and stones. In the strip, you will never find a moment too dull, a street too empty! 10pm, is definitely too early for a party and even on Mondays, there will be a party going on somewhere!

There is also varied options for the travellers in terms of accommodations! Right on the Strip, you will find hotels after hotels, casino after casino right on the long “road” or strip itself! Most of the hotels in the area belong to these groups, MGM, Caesars, Wynn and Sands which these 4 are the largest one! MGM owns more than half of the properties on the strip. Like any other places in Vegas, expect glam, expect extravagant, expect big! I choose to stay with MGM since they have a collaboration with Hyatt, in thus I will be able to have status with MGM and that really gave me lot of benefits, I will share on a little more on that later on.

Rates in Las Vegas is extremely varied! Rates are dirt cheap on Sun and as it gets later it become so many times more expensive. With the room rates on Fri and Sat being the most expensive since that is when you have the most amount of visitors in Vegas! For my stay in Las Vegas since I am only here from Sun to Thu, the rate were only around 406 SGD for my stay, furthermore, utilising the Citi Prestige 4th night free benefit. That brought the rate down to only 321 SGD or only 80 bucks per night! In fact a large bulk of the rate is due to the resort fee so do take note of that when you are checking out properties in Vegas. Furthermore, I book a promotion rate at that time where they throw in 2 buffet per day. That was a steal! The carpark is directly linked via a walkway to the hotel so that was easy for us. Parking used to be free in Vegas, although that is no longer the norm. Thankfully I got status as mentioned earlier so parking was free for me. If not that will cost $10 bucks a day. Another good perks of it is, you can park at all MGM properties in Las Vegas at the same rate, so that is another good side of staying in a MGM property. Moreover, I will say that a car is necessary in Las Vegas! Furthermore, I was offered an upgrade at check in. I would also get priority queue at all the lines.

The room was super spacious, what a drastic difference from the one I stayed at in New York! It was huge and had an awesome view of the surrounding. It was a corner room which further boost its view. On one side I had the vast desert and on the other corner, I had glimpse of the lights and towering hotels.

The room was in a rectangle shape. Clearly the hotel have been pass it prime with décor of the last decade but it was still comfortable! The toilet is on the right after entering and then you can see the lush two queen size bed. Heck the beds are so comfy. I find that Americans beds are really comfortable! Not sure why though!

Then at the far end you have two sofas and also a coffee table. To the side of the end you can also find a proper study table. I have to say that space is not an issue. Then opposite the two bed you have a tv setup with the two cupboard surrounding it. The tv was good. You can also find an ice maker right near the lobby!

The toilet was spacious as well and clean. Not like the Westin that I last stayed that clearly had housekeeping issue! Toiletries seems to be provided by the in-house spa and branded Kuer. The scent was lovely! Everything was provided, hairdryer and stuff. The only slight concern that I had with the toilet was that the shower head was the fixed kind. Nevertheless the water pressure is good. Which is something that I recognise a lot!

Overall I would say that the hotel is a solid 4 star! Hey the casino is also right out of the lobby! Wifi was strong, sockets were available and the room is spacious. Of course the place need a little renovation but everything else is good. Every day my room is well cleaned, staff were polite and members recognition is good also. Location is perfect as well! Next up, I will share about the MGM Grand Buffet which is included in the rate. Everyone knows Vegas is known for their buffet, so stay tuned for that!
